Ug

The document outlines the requirements for various parts of the underground (UG) section including material selection, design, fabrication, inspection, testing, marking, reports, and overpressure protection. It also provides guidance on thickness calculations, weld joint efficiency, impact testing criteria, pressure vessel maximum allowable working pressure calculations, hydrostatic testing procedures and requirements for radiographic testing.

Inside Radius in case of circumferential stresses (affect longitudinal joints category A)

Outside radius App-1 MANDATORY

R in= Original inside diam + ([Link]-measured th.)

R out = inside + original th.

get Do/t L/Do D is outside diameter of shell & L is total length & t [Link]

From Fig. G of ASME II – Part D, A = 0.0011

From Fig. CS-2, B = 11500

4B 4 x 11500
Allowable Ext. Pr.= = = 212.9 psi > 180 psi . .
3( Do / t ) 3 x 72

T is the minimum required thickness without corrosion allowance.

D is inside diameter & L in hemispherical is radius of sphere & but in tori spherical is crown
radius. Incase welded vessels use E joint efficiency UW-12

Thickest thickness at same parameters is tori spherical and thinnest is hemispherical.

maximum pressure permissible at the top of the vessel in its

normal operating position
Vessel MAWP = Vessel Part MAWP — Static Head
Vessel MAWP will be worked out considering Part MAWPs.

For location at 4 feet from top = 426 – 0.433 x 4 = 424.268 psi

For location at 32 feet from top = 440 – 32 x 0.433 = 426.144 psi
For location at 54 feet from top = 442.5 – 54 x 0.433 = 419.118
For location at 80 feet from top = 454.64 – 80 x 0.433 = 420.0 psi

Vessel MAWP is lowest of all part MAWPs adjusted for hydrostatic

head.

Therefore, lowest value 419.118 psi is vessel MAWP.

1 foot = 12'' & I ft.=0.433 PSI

MIN Test pressure = 1.3 * (MAWP)* (S test temp./S design temp.)

Depth for hemispherical head = 1/2 Diameter

Depth for ellipsoidal head = (1/2 minor minor + 2'' straight flange)

-not contain lethal –welded seam will be hidden –suitable gas leak test (agreement)

MIN Test pressure = 1.1 * (MAWP)* (S ambient temp./S design temp.)

Test temperature = MDMT = 30 F

Permitted only if design or operating condition don't permit use of water. & ………………….

Procedure first step is 1/2 test pressure then 5 steps each one 1/10 test
pressure then reduce pressure to test pressure/1.1 for inspection.

RT-3 spot E=0.85 & RT-4 partial or non E=0.7 (these values for Type 1)
