Under pure bending, the column has a moment capacity of 561 kNm. 3) At balanced failure, the column can support 5361 kN of compression and has a reduced moment capacity of 952 kNm due to the effects of axial load.

section capacity diagram of the column that bends about the major axis. The diagram is to be
based on the following point:
