Research Design and Methodology

This chapter is divided into three parts: (1) Purpose

of the study and Research design, (2) Methods, and (3)

Qualitative Data Analysis Procedures.

The first part, purpose of the Research Design ,

restates the main problem and discusses the research design.

The second part, Method, describes the participants,

data gathering instruments, and data- gathering procedure

used in the study.

The third part, Qualitative Data Analysis Procedures,

enumerates the tools used in the analysis of data.

Purpose of the Study and Research Design

The purpose of this research study was to determine the

positive results of teachers student relationships on it

impact to academic motivation engagement in the classroom.

This study, was focused to the Grade 9 Junior High

School Students of Mambusao National High School for the

school year ([Link] utilized the case study research

design. A documented study in particular grade level- the

grade 9 in this institution.

It presents a detailed analysis of a specific case and

particular case. It is done to analyze construct or themes

which lead to the identification of variable which is

important for the discussion of the study.

Methods

Participants

The participants of this study, were the Grade nine

Junior High School Students of Mambusao National High School

School year 2023-2024. From a population size of 266, a

sample size of 70, were purposively selected using purposive

sampling. The selection was done using the stratified

purposive sampling as shown in Table 1.

The Respondent were purposely picked from the list of

student in every Grade 9 student using the purposive random

sampling.

As shown in table 2, out of 266 grade 9 students, 10

(14.29%) were grade 9 Orion, 10 (14.29%) were grade 9

Davinci, 10 (14.29%) were grade 9 Aguinaldo, 10 (14.29%)

were grade 9 Bonifacio, 10 (14.29%) were grade 9 Quezon, 10

(14.29%) were grade 9 Rizal, 10 (14.29%) were grade 9

Jacinto. In terms of gender 32 () were females, and 38 ()

were males. In terms of ages 65 () have ages 14-15 and 5 ()

have ages 16 and above.

Data – Gathering Instrument

Survey Questionnaire. The personal factors of choosing

Grade 9 of the respondent were measured using the 10 items

researcher made survey questionnaire, which was face

validated by our research teacher. Every grade 9 was

administered with the same survey questionnaire items based

on the effects of teacher student relationships on academic

motivation. The variables such as gender, grade 9 level and

age of junior High School Student in S.Y 2023-2024 were

gathered using the survey questionnaire data for

participants.

Data - Gathering Procedures

Before the conduct of the study, a letter of permission

from the school’s principal was sought first. Upon approval,

the researcher then conducted a purposive sampling among

grade 9 students to determine the sample size. The

respondents were picked purposively from the list of

students in every grade 9 level to have a better answer.

After gathering the final list of respondents, the

researchers then administered conducted the daily behavior

of students based on how effective teacher student

relationships on student motivations. The survey

questionnaire was gathered when they finished answering. The

data obtained from the test were processed, encoded, and

analyzed using the qualitative data analysis.

Qualitative Data Analysis Procedures

The following qualitative tools will be employed in the

analysis classified according to gender, strand level, and

percentage. This will be used to described in percentage the

number of respondent classified according to gender, grade

level, and age.

Frequency Count- this was used to determine the number of

the respondents classified according to gender in each

year level, as well as to categorized their answer in

each question in the questionnaires pertaining to the

factors that affect teacher students relationship and

students motivation.

Percentage- this was used to describe in percentage the

number of respondents classified according to gender in

year level, as well as their responses in each category

of in each question about the factors affecting teacher

student relationship and students motivation in the

questionnaires.

Mean- this was used to determine the teacher student

relationship and students motivation of Grade 9 Junior

High School student classified according to gender and

the factors affecting it.
