My target audience is men aged 20-30.

I really wanted to do a fantasy based project for this

but have no idea if that is something my target audience will like and how I would pull it off.
At first I thought of Marvel, but then I realised that it might be a bit too young and hard to pull
off. Then I remembered amazon prime’s new TV series rings of fire which is based off of lord
of the rings. What if I went down the Game or throws, lord of the rings path? fantasy , action,
adventure and even though it's for all ages, it's targeted at mostly 18-35 year olds. Of course
I will include my own little aspects as I already have a pre planned story but it will allow me
to have a bit of freedom and attract people.
A lot of shows recommended to people aged 20-30 are more sorta of girl drama, party and
slice of life which is not my specialty but might be slightly nicer or easier to pull off rather
than green screen fantasy.

Research

Game Of Thrones Age demographic

Game of thrones has an extremely wide age-rage when it comes to their audience & views.
It's interesting to note that people aged 35-50 don’t tend to watch it as much as the viewers
aged 18-32 & 54+. It is also important to note that nice COVID, viewers have expanded their
horizons due to boredom so this graph is technically out of date considering it was created in
2019.

Lord Of the Rings

Lord of the rings is more of a mixed age demographic, some read the books at age 7 while
others only watched the movies at 27. This could be a way I get around my problem of what
will appeal to my age category as who doesn't love fantasy?
It's also very important to note that Rings of Fire (a new series by Amazon Prime), is
struggling to appeal to younger viewers, 18-30 years old, which is a bit of a concern as that
is my target audience.

Documentaries
Sports documentaries seem to be the “In thing” now days, Things such as “Drive to Survive”
on Netflix draw in millions of views of all ages. From personal experiences, I know my little
sister who is aged 13-14 is obsessed with the series, as well as my father who is aged 50+.
This just proves how popular they are.

When looking what was best to make a trailer for, I asked my older cousin (as she has lots of
male friends who are around her age, 20-30 years). She said “Sports documentaries are
hella popular right now like F1 drive to survive on Netflix and the amazon all or nothing
series and there is also a gold one”. This proves that sports documentaries are the most
in-thing at the moment for this age category. My only problem would be getting access to a
sports team that I could film and then making up a story to it ect. Even if I could get in touch
with one, the likelihood of them allowing me to film is very slim.
Comedy/friends
The age demographic is right around mine - (mine is men aged 20-30, friends is 18-34). This
is an ideal show to shoot which will draw in many views, not just from my age category as
well as it being not too hard to film.

When it comes to comedy, none is most well known as FREINDS. When looking for a trailer
for friends to reference, I really struggled as the only trailer I could find was the reunion one
which defeats the whole objective.

The supernatural also seems to be quite in. Shows like “Squid Game” and “Stranger things”
also seem to draw in large audiences, my target audience being within that demographic.

FINAL IDEA
The Three Tumors
Context- Originally “三毒瘤,Sān Dúliú” but translates to “Three cancers” - also translates to
“three tumors” not “tumorous”. I decided on this as their chaos and energy is extremely
contagious, making anyone around them smile.

Log Line: “Friends for Ever”

Overview for TV platforms:

Do you remember that group of people who no-one but themselves could understand? Ever
wondered what actually goes on with them, what their everyday lives consist of? Meet “The
Three Tumors”, their energy is as contagious as their smiles.
Even though Odell doesn’t want to go to university, his mother insists on it saying “you must
experience the ‘uni life’.” If it wasn’t for his music qualification required for his dream job, he
would not be on the train to his new University in a totally alien city. When he gets there, he
catches the eyes of 2 obnoxious classmates in his home room. At first he's unsure about
their constant pestering, but everytime he grows to love his new found friends.
Where it will be advertised:
I will advertise it as if it's on Netflix, however it could also be as big of a hit on amazon prime.
If it was aired on life tv, it would be aired no earlier than 8/9pm and no later than 11/12pm.
Ideal time slot being 9-10pm as my target audience mostly watch TV from 9 onwards to
about 11-12 pm on weekdays.
Script/episodes/story outline:
Drama/ Slice of life

Instead of it being drama between girls, I decided I wanted a more masculine theme to try to
appeal more to my target audience. The series is about a young man, Odell, who is dreading
starting University. He hates change and new environments, and has only ever known living
at home with his parents. University is not something he wanted, if it wasn’t for his mother’s
insistence he experiences the “Uni Life” and the qualification he required for his dream job
as a musician.
As soon as he steps into class, his nerves dissipate. Good. He was stressing about nothing.
Or so he thought, when 2 loud students walked into the lecture hall. Everyone who is already
there, goes silent, almost scared to talk in their presence. The two boys, Aiden and Salith,
look around the class as if wanting to find a new victim to torment. Their gazes both stop
when they lay eyes on Odell. Uh no, he spoke too soon.
His new uni life starts with his new best friends, Aiden and Salith. They aren’t mean, like he
originally thought, just very obnoxious and loud as well as love parties, unlike Odell. At first
he finds them annoying, but soon realises he's found some new friends which will allow him
to be himself as well as make the most of university, making sure to not overwork and have
plenty of fun. The “Uni life” definitely is something Odell enjoys.

Original “script”
Even though I originally wanted male actors, I will struggle to find them as everyone is so
focused on their own projects. Maybe I will have to make them female and I only have a
week to do this, so I must work quickly and get the right actors for the job.

Odell has just started a new school & new life. Very scared but
determined.

Montage or different places the series will take place, some of a

“school” like environment to represent the university aspect of the
series. Lots of a busy town to show the unfamiliarity of the new,
alien environment. And some of party-like places and events with
flashing lights and music.

Other ways to Promote my Series (not required, just fun to think about).

Stream the trailer on the front page of the platform, as well as sometimes on live TV as adverts. Not to
mention advertising it on all social media platform accounts such as twitter, instagram and Tiktok.
Posters of the three chaotic crew (one looking very adult (possibly with a folding fan coz i love them),
another looking fed up/scared/worried with books in hand, and one looking very hyper active in the
middle)
If it ever got big, Another way for promotion would be the iconic and recognizable thing about each
character, for Aiden it would be a folding fan, for Odell it would be his black jack which has a distinct
purple music note on the back of it. And for Salith, it would be his white trainers which have aqua
saves on them.
