Overview

Overview

Purpose
This document establishes Network Interface Validation testing for Dual Message
System and Single Message System self-processing acquirers and their Third Party
Processors (TPPs).

Scope
This document is provided for authorization and clearing acquirer testing of 8-digit
BINs and 11-digit Account Ranges.

Audience
This document is applicable to Dual Message System and Single Message System
self-processing acquirers and their TPPs.

Testing Objective
Self-processing acquirers and their TPPs that are connected to the Mastercard
Network will test various authorization and clearing transactions that contain a
PAN from an 11-digit account range that has been segmented within an 8-digit
BIN.

Account Range Processing Requirements

Acquirers and processors must be able to recognize, process, and route
transactions based on the full account range (up to 11-digits).
Mastercard provides profile tables for lists of active account ranges (BIN File and
the FIT File) and/or BINs and BIN extensions (FIT File) for all Mastercard, Maestro,
and Cirrus branded products (credit, debit, and prepaid product types, both
consumer and commercial). Acquirers and their processors must use the updated
information that Mastercard provides to ensure that they are processing the
transactions correctly for any additions/updates/deletions of the account range
information.

Testing with Mastercard by Self-Processing Acquirers and Third Party Processors (TPPs)

These profile tables provide acquirers key information about:

• Active account ranges within Mastercard, Maestro, and Cirrus branded products
• Product code associated to the account range
• Country associated to the account range
• Cardholder billing currency associated to the account range (participating
acquirers may use it for Dynamic Currency Conversion [DCC])
Acquirers and processors that do not utilize full account range level data are at risk
of processing transactions incorrectly. This could result in a number of things,
including, but not limited to:
• Incorrect routing and/or incorrect determination of account range data
• Incorrect interchange rate selection by the acquirer
• Merchant dissatisfaction (lost sales, transactions, and volume)

NOTE: Mastercard rejects transactions if the IRD submitted is not applicable for the
account range.

Rejection of a clearing message due to incorrect submission could result in a delay

in payment to acquirers for the products and services delivered and additional
processing fees.

Testing with Mastercard by Self-Processing Acquirers and Third

Party Processors (TPPs)

Acquirers and TPPs may test their host systems with Mastercard to ensure 8-digit
BIN and 11-digit account range readiness.
Offline host testing is available through the use of Mastercard simulators.
Simulators offer the opportunity to customers to self-test free of charge. If a
customer would like Mastercard to validate their logs then they open a billable
project with Customer Implementation Services team.

Simulator Testing and Test BINs and PANs

Simulator Testing and Test BINs and PANs

Self-processing acquirers and their TPPs may use the Mastercard simulators for
testing 11-digit account ranges that have been segmented within an 8-digit BIN. In
addition to the Mastercard-provided test cases, customers may create their own
test cases using these simulators.
Mastercard provides many 11-digit account ranges that have been segmented
within an 8-digit BIN for acquirer testing. To use within test transactions, acquirers
may create their own test account number data using any of those 11-digit
account ranges. Acquirers may also use the Mastercard provided account numbers
created from 11-digit account ranges that have been segmented within an 8-digit
BIN.

Applicable Brands for 8-Digit BINs

The 11-digit account ranges that have been segmented within an 8-digit BIN are
assigned as Mastercard, Debit Mastercard, Maestro, and Cirrus card portfolios.

Test Case Table Notations

This table defines the notations used in test case tables throughout the
Mastercard 8-Digit BIN and 11-Digit Account Range Test Cases.

Notation Definition
M Indicates a Mandatory business transaction.

C Indicates a Conditional business transaction.

Where it appears in a DE 52 column in an Authorization table, indicates

a Valid PIN value.

The following test cases will test whether an acquirer's Dual Message
authorization application can successfully submit Authorization messages for test
accounts within 11-digit account ranges that have been segmented within an 8-
digit BIN.
The criteria for success is acceptance of the transaction by the Mastercard
Network for routing to issuer of the PAN as well as routing of domestic and/or on-
us transactions that are not sent to the MasterCard network.

NOTE: The Mastercard provided test 11-digit account ranges that have been segmented
within an 8-digit BIN are a representative mix of issuers, countries, currencies, brand/
products, consumer/commercial product types, and credit/debit/prepaid product
categories.

NOTE: The ??? within the Card ID indicates acquirer may use any of the test accounts with
the 811 identifier that are presented in the attached spreadsheet.
