It notes that understanding these different strengths provides most of what is needed to predict future events. The document then goes on to describe specific strengths and planetary relationship concepts like the avasthas, dignities, debilitation, subha and asubha phala, dig bala, and ishta and kashta. Videos from online courses are referenced for further explanation of each concept.

Strengths

There are many, many types of astrological strengths: Shad Bala, strength due to
dignity, exaltation strength, strength due to a planet’s condition (its Avasthas), etc.
Many of the most important and most useful astrological techniques are presented to
us by the ancient texts in the forms of these many types of strengths. These many
strengths and understanding their psychosocial and predictive values are the
cornerstone of all systematic astrological techniques. Learning these different
strengths will, therefore, provide you with most of what you need in order to predict
future events.

Balaadi Avasthas are a group of five planetary conditions that reveal a planet’s ability
to make full use of its potential. Depending upon a planet’s level of maturity, a planet
is able to realize a part of its potential.

Interpreting Jaagradadi Avasthas

videos 14 to 19 @ \1_Courses\1_Beginner Courses\8_Interpretating Avasthas
Jaagradadi Avasthas are a simple group of three planetary conditions based on the
relationship of the planet to the lord of the Rasi in which it is placed. Jaagradadi
Avasthas are of great importance in making predictions through the Lajjitaadi
Avasthas while also being useful by themselves. In these videos I will talk about the
effects of each planet in each of the Jaagradadi Avasthas and also summarize all the
possible predictive effects of a planet in each of the three Jaagradadi Avasthas.
Please download the Jaagradadi Avasthas Manual before watching any of these

Dignities
Planetary Relationships
Planetary Relationships are one of the most important factors to consider whether
reading a horoscope or making predictions. Both Natural Relationships and
Combined Relationships have their important place in predictive astrology and these
relationships are the key to understanding whether a planet will be a supportive or
destructive force in the horoscope. Watch these videos in the order presented below.

Dignities & a Planet's Auspicious/Inauspicious Nature

Dignities, not the natural benefic or malefic nature of a planet, are the key to
determining a planet’s auspicious or inauspicious nature. Dignities are therefore, of
greatest importance in predictive astrology.

Debilitation
videos 25 to 27 @ \1_Courses\1_Beginner Courses\5_Mastering Debilitation
Debilitatoin is a simple concept in astrology, but one which has several different
ramifications. While there are lots of rules floating around about how to judge a
debilitated planet, I still get asked by students about debilitated planets all the time
and for good reason. Watch these videos to see why Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra
ignores all the commonly known ideas about debilitation and instead focuses on the
foundation techniques of astrology. These videos are best watched as part of the
Mastering Debilitation course.

Subha and Asubha Phala

Subha and Asubha Phala are the auspicious and inauspicious fruits of the planets
based on their dignities in seven of the divisional charts. Subha and Asubha Phala
are one of the important measurements of planetary strength given in Brihat
Parashara Hora Sastra. Subha and Asubha Phala are to be used, not in an isolated
manner, but in conjunction with other strengths to assist in quantifying a Graha’s
effects.

Shad bala_Dig Bala

Dig Bala is the directional strength of a planet dependent upon its position in the
North, East, South or West. Dig Bala is an important component in Shad Bala; it has
its own interpretation in the behavior of the individual; and it is one of the three
important mathematical calculations of strengths that is to be used, not in an isolated
manner, but in conjunction with other strengths to assist in quantifying a Graha’s
effects.
