in the south of Peru! Known for its rich history,
impressive colonial architecture, and captivating
natural landscapes, Arequipa is a tourist
destination you won't want to miss.

I. Introduction to Arequipa:

Arequipa, also called "The White City", owes its nickname to the predominant use of white
sillar stone in the construction of its buildings. Founded in 1540 by the Spaniard Garcí Manuel
de Carbajal, the city has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO due to its colonial
architecture and its influence on Peruvian history.

Colca Canyon: Located a few hours from

Arequipa, this impressive canyon is one of the
deepest in the world. It offers spectacular

culinary gems. It is a pepper stuffed with meat,
potatoes and cheese, covered with melted cheese
and baked in the oven.

with pork marinated in chicha de jora (a fermented

texture is obtained. It is traditionally sold in the streets of
Arequipa.
