I. OBJECTIVE/S: By the end of this 8-day lesson, students should be able to:
 Students will evaluate contemporary art forms using
elements and principles of design, and examine the
significance of Gawad sa Manlilikhang Bayan in
preserving traditional Filipino art forms.
Materials  Visual aids (images, videos, slides) showcasing
contemporary Philippine artworks

III. PROCEDURE:
Learning across - History: Analyzing the historical context of
curriculum: contemporary art forms.
- Science: Investigating the materials and techniques used
in creating contemporary art forms.
- Mathematics: Measuring and analyzing the proportions
and dimensions in contemporary art forms.
1. Show a video showcasing various contemporary art
Review Motivation: forms and ask students to share their initial impressions.
2. Display images of famous contemporary artworks and
ask students to identify the elements and principles used.
3. Engage students in a class discussion about the
relevance and impact of contemporary art in society.

Lesson Proper Day 1: Introduction to Elements and Principles of Design
Objective: Introduce students to the foundational concepts
of elements and principles of design.
 Activity 1: Elements of Design (45 minutes)
 Define and discuss the fundamental
elements of design (line, shape, color,
texture, etc.).
 Provide visual examples to illustrate each
element.
 Activity 2: Principles of Design (45 minutes)
 Explain the principles of design (balance,
contrast, rhythm, unity, etc.).
 Show how these principles contribute to
the overall aesthetics of an artwork.
Day 2-5: Evaluating Contemporary Art Forms
Objective: Apply the elements and principles of design to
evaluate various contemporary Filipino art forms.
 Day 2: Folk Architecture and Maritime Transport

 Activity: Analyzing Folk Architecture and

 Discuss the significance of folk
architecture and maritime transport
in Filipino culture.
 Evaluate these art forms using
elements and principles of design.
 Day 3: Weaving and Carving (90 minutes)

traditional weaving and carving
techniques.
 Apply elements and principles of
design to analyze the visual and
tactile qualities.
 Day 4: Performing Arts and Literature (90

Assessment Teachers can assess students' learning based on their


ability to identify and evaluate the elements and principles
in contemporary art forms, their engagement in class
discussions and activities, and their creativity in creating
their own artwork.
IV. Assignment: Reflect on the importance of recognizing and preserving
traditional art forms, and write a short essay on how
contemporary Filipino artists can draw inspiration from
these art forms.
V. REMARKS
Analysis: Analyze the outcome of each activity by assessing
students' ability to identify and evaluate the elements and
principles in contemporary art forms. Observe their
critical thinking skills and understanding of artistic
concepts.
Extension: Encourage students to reflect on the importance of
elements and principles in contemporary art forms.
Discuss how these elements and principles contribute to
the overall meaning and impact of the artwork..
Application: Present a real-life problem related to contemporary art
forms, such as designing a public mural or creating an art
installation for a community event. Ask students to apply
their knowledge of elements and principles to solve the
problem creatively.
