The significance of the toast speech of Rizal to the awakening of nationalism
is that it portrays how our fellow Filipinos respect other country and especially we
should know the importance of our language as the world progress.

Answer:
Rizal was not awarded because he did not paid the fees that is corresponded for
him to graduate and also he did not present the required thesis for the graduation.

2. Explain briefly the real purpose of Rizal’s leaving the Philippines.


Answer:
The real purpose of Rizal leaving the Philippines is to continue his studies and to
complete it because that time in the Philippines, education is like limited. And one
more reason is to observe the life, culture, customs and etc of other country.

3. Discuss the reason why Rizal joined the mason order in Madrid.
Answer:
Rizal joined the mason order in Madrid to secure the aid of the Freemasons in
his battle against the abusive friars in the Philippines. Since the friars used the might
of Catholicism to oppress and persecute the country's patriots, Rizal intended to
fight them with Freemasonry.
4. State the comment of Rizal about Europe.
Answer:
Paris is the cosliest capital in Europe.

5. Give the reason of Rizal’s financial worries.


Answer:
Rizal's financial woes began as a result of hard times in Calamba. Rizal's monthly
allowances in Madrid were late, and there were instances when they did not arrive
at all, causing him great distress. Paciano was once obliged to sell his younger
brother's pony to convey money to Madrid. There are times that Jose Rizal was
unable to eat breakfast due of financial constraints. He even went to his university
class on an empty stomach, competed in the Greek language contest and luckily won
the gold medal.

6. State how Rizal described Colombo.


Answer:
Colombo is more beautiful, smart and elegant than Singapore, Point Galle, and
Manila.

7. Give the reason why the manager of the Dominican-owned hacienda increased
the rentals of the lands cultivated by the Rizal family.
Answer:
The manager increased the rentals of the lands cultivated by the Rizal family
because a dreadful pest killed most of the turkeys and Don Francisco had to turned
down the request of the manager because the remaining turkeys are for breeding
purposes.
