Methodology with Ethical Consideration
Research Design
The researchers will use the descriptive quantitative method.
Quantitative research will be used to quantify the problem by producing
numerical data or data that can be converted into valuable statistics. Moreover,
descriptive research will enable the researchers to explore the research
problem's background fully before conducting the study. Through this method,
the researchers will determine the perception of graduating students as
prospective job seekers and how it translates into a willingness to work for a
Engineering field.
Data Collection
The researchers will use a self-administered questionnaire. A four-point
Likert scale will be used to construct closed-ended questionnaires, where:
Strongly agree (SA) = 4; Agree(A) = 3; Disagree (D) = 2; and Strongly Disagree
(SD) = 1; The Likert scale is designed to encourage straightforward responses
from respondents while still obtaining reliable results. To conveniently
distribute the questionnaires to respondents through email, the researchers
intend to conduct the survey online using "Google Forms." The corresponding
responses will be interpreted at the end of this study.
Respondents of the Study
The respondents of this study will be the students at AMA University and
College. The criteria set for determining the respondents will be based on the
course. This study will only include those undergraduates taking courses
under Computer Engineering.
Moreover, the researchers will utilize Slovin's formula in determining the
approximate sample size with a 5% margin of error. Out of the population of
739 graduating students, 260 will be the sample size of this study. The
population for this study was determined by the researchers using the
requested list, as of October 18, 2022, from the CBA office at UE Manila.
Sampling Procedure
The researchers will utilize a simple random sampling approach. In
random sampling, each sample has an equal chance of being chosen. This
makes it the least biased sampling strategy for each member of the target
population. In addition, in utilizing this sampling technique, the researchers
will use the requested list of students at AMA University and College obtained
from the Computer Engineering office.
Ethical Consideration
Ethical considerations will be used in this study to ensure that the
research is carried out in a manner that supports and safeguards the interests
of the participants. The respondents will give their complete consent prior to
the study. Their agreement to participate in the survey will imply that they
consent to have their information collected. Additionally, the research
participants' privacy would be safeguarded following the Data Privacy Act of
2012. The researchers will avoid providing any false information or portraying
the results of our primary research in a biased way. On the other hand,
preserving the highest level of objectivity throughout the research will be taken
into account. Moreover, all relationships of any kind, funding sources, and
potential conflicts of interest will be disclosed. Lastly, all communications
regarding this action research will be open and truthful.
Statistical tools
The researchers will use different statistical tools such as frequency
distribution or percentage, arithmetic mean, correlation, and a Likert scale
under descriptive statistics. Moreover, simple and multiple regression analysis
and chi-square test will be used under inferential statistics.
The percentage is used when it's essential to know how many
participants provided a specific response. This will be used in the study to
know the percentage of respondents based on their socio-demographic
characteristics. In addition, the arithmetic mean will be used to calculate the
data average needed for the conclusion of the study.
Furthermore, the researchers will use correlation analysis which
determines the relationship between two or more variables (Kothari, 2020).
Also, the Four-point Likert scale, wherein there is a scale value, will be
used to measure the respondent’s favorableness toward the given point of view
(Kothari, 2020).
Based on the scale in the table below, the researchers interpret the
weighted mean using 1.00 as the computed scale interval.
