• the conventional method.
The conventional method is tough & unsafe as compared to the jacking method
that’s why the jacking method for Tank erection is used everywhere.

In the jacking method, we calculate the overall weight of tank ages except for
the bottom & deck, and accordingly, jacks are used. The number of jacks to be
used is directly subjected to the weight of the tank to be lifted.

Laying of Storage tank Annular Plate

valid fire extinguishers at site all the time.
 Check certificate of calibration of welding equipment.
 Check welding equipment and all related ancillaries (cable, regulators,
oven, etc).
 For seal welded joints, all exposed threads must be seal welded and thread
tape must not be used.
 All welding & grinding activities shall only be done after covering work area
by fire blanket.
 Electrode and rod diameters shall conform to the requirements of approved
WPS.
 All the weld joints must be properly prepared before doing fit-up. Bevel
angle, root gap should be maintained as per approved WPS. Weld joint
area must be thoroughly cleaned.
 Surface of pipe at areas to be welded shall be free from dirt, grease, scale,
paint, grit or any other foreign material which may adversely affect the final
weld quality on minimum 1 inch band both outside and inside the pipe.
 Proper joint root gap shall be done to assure full weld penetration as per
approved WPS requirements.
 Tack welds shall be avoided wherever possible.
 Each weld shall be uniform in width and size throughout its full length.
 Each layer of welding shall be smooth and free of slag, cracks, pinholes,
and shall be completely fused to the adjacent weld beads and base metal.
