Over the past 20 years, there has been a significant increase in the demand for
English language teaching techniques (Kollmann, 2005). Most English language
instruction nowadays aims to give students communicative language abilities so they
can compete in a globally competitive world. Particularly in nations where English is not
the majority language, English has been employed as a medium of teaching. It is
believed that students who receive substantial English language training are
significantly better since they are more prepared on a practical level. The learners'
learning outcomes can be improved by developing a beneficial interaction between
English language teaching approaches.

Experience

In my years of teaching, I can thoroughly determine the needs of every learner I

met in terms of English language. As English language is commonly used in class, I
personally encourage my learners to try to speak English as much as possible. But
taking into consideration that there are learners who cannot meet the average percentile
of understanding and speaking English language in their level of ability. However, this
language struggles and barriers are determined through different factors causing the
lack of general knowledge, lack of speaking practice, fear of mistake and criticism and
alike.

Reflection

The teacher must take the lead in shaping students for the future in order to have
an effective English language teaching method. Providing them work is one approach of
preparing students for real-world experience rather than just giving them tasks to pass
or fulfill requirements. The nature and beauty of learning are killed by exam anxiety and
the drive to achieve high exam scores (Kollmann, 2005). The concept of global
competency makes clear the knowledge and skills students will need in the twenty-first
century, as well as how teachers may help students become globally competent.

Application

To produce globally competitive learners, teachers should be primarily global

competent. It demands teacher’s effective communication skills in order to engage an
effective learning environment for the learners. Teachers should continually develop
professionalism as form them to adjust, grow and support the roll-out inquiry-based
education and other modern pedagogies. Basically, teachers should look up to every
need of learners in assessing his or her learning performance. Teacher must determine
the common learning barriers and to generate effective techniques in overcoming these
barriers to have a smooth and effective language teaching practice.
