Greetings!

LIS believes that reading is not only a


valuable skill but also an enriching
activity that opens up new worlds and
expands your knowledge.
On the occasion of National Librarians
Day, LIS has organized “READATHON
WEEK” for grade 1 to 12 students from
7th August 2023 to 11th August 2023.
To foster a love for reading and
encourage its practice among our students, we are introducing a new initiative
called "Drop Everything and Read" (DEAR).

DEAR is a simple yet powerful activity where everyone in the school community
dedicates a specific time to pause their regular activities and immerse themselves
in reading. It promotes a reading culture, enhances vocabulary, improves
concentration, and ignites the imagination. DEAR time allows you to choose a book
of your liking and embark on a journey of discovery and adventure.

During the designated DEAR time, you are requested to follow these guidelines:

✓ Select a book of your choice: You have the freedom to choose any book that
captures your interest, be it a novel, a non-fiction book, a magazine, or even
an e-book.

✓ Silence and focus: Ensure that the reading environment is calm and free
from distractions. Find a comfortable place to sit and immerse yourself in
the world of your chosen book.

✓ Respect others' reading time: During DEAR time, everyone is expected to


maintain a quiet atmosphere to respect others' reading experiences.

✓ Share your reading experience: After the DEAR session, we encourage you to
share your thoughts, reviews, or recommendations about the book with your
peers or teachers. This will create an engaging dialogue about reading and
help discover new books.

✓ Embrace the habit: DEAR time is just the beginning of cultivating a lifelong
reading habit. Try to dedicate some time every day to read, whether it's
before bedtime, during breaks, or on weekends.

We believe that DEAR will not only help you develop your reading skills but also
enhance your creativity, critical thinking, and communication abilities. We urge all
students to actively participate in this activity and make the most of this
opportunity to explore the magical world of books.
