What Makes Your Mentor Sentences Compound sentences?
Copy and paste each of your three sentence from the last slide into one of the boxes in the left
column. For each sentence do the following:
➔ Highlight the first independent clause in yellow.
➔ Highlight the second independent clause in blue.
➔ Highlight the coordinating conjunction (CC) in green.
➔ Change the comma color to red and make it bold.
This combination--two independent clauses joined by a coordinating conjunction(with a comma BEFORE
the CC)--are what make these COMPOUND SENTENCES.
