Weekly Mass Project for Students
The primary cost components are the personnel needed for the project, including pastors, nuns, and other church members, with potential charges ranging from ₱50-₱500 per day. The cost of fliers, estimated between ₱200-₱1000 per year, is relatively low. The budget is justified by leveraging church-provided equipment and aiming for support from higher levels within the school to facilitate the process .
The project plans to integrate religious literacy and interfaith understanding by developing a subject that focuses on religious literacy and respect for different faiths, collaborating with religious leaders and educators from various backgrounds to ensure the curriculum is accurate and inclusive, and emphasizing critical thinking and exploration of different beliefs and perspectives in its teaching methodology .
The primary objectives of incorporating weekly masses are to provide students with an opportunity to explore and develop their spiritual beliefs and values, encourage reflection, introspection, and personal growth through religious practices and teachings, and foster a sense of community and belonging among students by creating a space for shared religious experiences .
The ethical guidelines emphasize ensuring that religious classes do not promote favoring any particular religion. They focus on the importance of respectful discussions, encouraging critical thinking, and exploring different beliefs and perspectives to foster an environment of sensitivity and respect for all students, regardless of their religious beliefs or non-beliefs .
The project proposes to evaluate and monitor the effectiveness of the religious classes by implementing an evaluation framework that assesses student progress, teacher performance, and overall satisfaction levels. Regular feedback is used to make necessary adjustments and improvements, ensuring the teaching approaches remain inclusive and relevant .
The project aims to ensure compliance by reviewing the legal framework and educational policies governing the inclusion of religious classes, ensuring adherence to laws concerning religious freedom, separation of church and state, and non-discrimination. It emphasizes respect for different faiths, includes collaboration with religious leaders, scholars, and educators from diverse backgrounds to ensure a comprehensive and inclusive curriculum, and involves parents and the community in the decision-making process to maintain transparency and address concerns .
The team delegates tasks by forming four units. Atienza, Bestil, and Cabar handle survey data and student feedback. Barber, De Leon, and Franco manage needs and accommodations, such as distributing fliers and maintaining the religious corner. Canono, Capulong, and Clavel assist the club, providing support and help. Crisostomo, Flores, and Gabriel manage scheduling, ensuring availability of sections for the classes .
The project cultivates a sense of community by organizing weekly masses that foster community cohesion and spiritual nourishment. It aims to create a shared space for religious experiences, encouraging students to form deeper connections and build a sense of belonging. The establishment of safe spaces or clubs for like-minded students further supports this goal .
The logistical considerations include determining appropriate scheduling for religious classes, considering factors like class duration, frequency, and integration within the school timetable. It also involves allocating suitable classroom spaces and resources, using collaboration tools such as Google Drive, Zoom, and Skype to efficiently organize the classes .
The project plans to engage parents and the community by involving them in the decision-making process, providing information about the objectives and benefits, and encouraging open dialogue for feedback. Their involvement is significant to foster a collaborative approach, address concerns, and ensure the transparency and support needed for the project's success .
