CONTROL MEASURES:
 No maintenance shall be carried out unless there is valid work order
 Only competent persons shall carry out this maintenance tasks
 Task technical & QHSE instructions shall be provided to task performer (e.g. job plan, method statement, tasking sheet, etc)
 Task performer shall ensure that all hand-tools & equipment which are required to carry out the maintenance are in good condition and that he knows how to use
them safely
 Safety shoes must be worn, handling gloves and dust masks must be provided and used whenever required
 Performer shall ensure that all power sources are isolated, locked-out and tagged-out before commencing the task
 Performer shall ensure that no part of the FAHU will move as a result of wind / air movement
 Job performer shall be trained on how to carry out safe manual handling (toolbox talk). In case of heavy load mechanical aids shall be used

Description
 Defective tool / equipment shall be tagged “defective don’t use” and taken out of use
 Performer shall be trained on how to use ladder safely (toolbox talk)
 In case of the need to use mobile scaffold then IDAMA PTW (work at height) shall be issued (in case of any other task that requiring PTW the relevant PTW shall
be issued, if you don’t know if PTW is required or not, ask your supervisor)
 Scaffold shall be erected / dismantled by only authorized trained staff
 Never use defective scaffold, never move mobile scaffold while people or materials are kept on it, never use mobile scaffold in case of extreme weather conditions
 Before the use of any chemicals read the container label / MSDS to know the hazards and the required PPE. All required PPEs shall be provided and used when
required. If you don’t know what PPE are required ask supervisor
 Use Green chemicals. Never handle chemicals in unlabelled container & never mix chemicals
 Dispose chemical / chemical container as hazardous waste
 Avoid chemical spill but if happened use the right spill control material (sand, neutralizer, etc) and report incident to your supervisor
 Never leave equipment or tools un-attuned in public accessible areas
 Once task is finished, all rotating / moving parts shall be guarded adequately
 In case maintenance resulted in waste, clean the task site and take waste to the right waste collection area
