Introduction

Agusan del Sur National High School recognizes the importance of ensuring
safety and the well-being of its students, faculty, and staff, and therefore, views and
acts upon disaster risk reduction management towards a seriously significant level.
Implementing comprehensive DRRM strategies and programs that aim to enhance
preparedness, and recovery efforts during times of disasters and emergencies. Abiding
the mandate of Republic Act 10121, to strengthen the Philippine disaster risk
reduction and management system,  Agusan del Sur National High School has done so
by establishing an organized DRRM structure, with designated personnel trained and
oriented towards various aspects of disaster management. The Agusan del Sur School
and Community Emergency Response Team (ASSCERT) plays a vital role for the steps
taken towards disaster risk reduction management efforts. Serving as a community-
based emergency response team, composed of trained volunteers within the vicinity of
the school, under the mandate of Republic Act 10121. Such organization was
established for the purposes of mitigating the effects of disasters, educating, training,
and combating such effects of disasters and emergencies.

Conducting simulations, drills, and training that aim to educate the school and
community about disaster preparedness. Trainings which includes first aid, basic life
support, emergency evacuation procedures, and other disaster preparedness
programs. Collaborating with organizations and other stakeholders, that ensure the
proper conduct and effective coordination of such holistic approaches towards disaster
risk reduction management. Each dedicated member within this organization
undergoes rigorous training on emergency response, led by Gilbert Muanag, to not
only educate, train, and prepare, but also to enhance not only life saving skills, but
along with the leadership and social skills vital for the composition of a greatly capable
responder. Playing a crucial role towards the promotion of a coordinated and smart
approach to emergency situations, ASSCERT provides immediate assistance and
support during disasters, facilitate evacuation processes, and ensures the safety and
well-being of the said affected population, and therefore, contributes significantly to
the resilience and overall disaster preparedness of Agusan del Sur National High
School.
II. Organizational Objectives, Projects & Activities

The organizational objectives focuses on strengthening abilities to respond effectively


to emergencies, including the following:

1. Enhance emergency preparedness by developing and implementing comprehensive


emergency preparedness plans covering various types of emergency response
actions including natural disasters, accidents, and various health crises.

2. Improve training and education, by providing regular training to improve and


enhance knowledge and skills in emergency response. Training involves first
aid, CPR, search and rescue techniques, and other relevant actions taken
towards improvement in such medical and emergency related fields.

3. Strengthening leadership skills through team building activities conducted


regularly that involve the enhancement of the members social skills.

4. Expanding community outreach and awareness by conducting information


drives and outreach programs dedicated to the indigenous and marginalized
groups within the vicinity of San Francisco Agusan del Sur.

5. Monitor and evaluate performance through the conduct and establishment of a


robust monitoring and evaluation system that assesses the team’s performance

IV. Recommendations
The Agusan del Sur School and Community Emergency Response Team
(ASSCERT) has been actively working towards emergency preparedness and
responses. Based on the accomplishments presented, the following
recommendations are put forth:
