The usage of the Present Simple tense.
1: The general truth and laws of nature.
Two and two make four.
It snows in winter.
2: Permanent states, habits and repeated actions.
She works in a bank.

3. Timetables and programs.
The plane to London takes off at 6 p.m.
The movie starts at midnight.
School begins at nine tomorrow.
Note: Usually, the timetable is fixed by an organisation, not by us.
4. Sports commentaries, reviews and narration.
John kicks the ball and passes it to Jack.(sports comment)
The prince tells her about his feelings(narration)
She meets her sister after 10 years of separation.(review)
5. Instructions, recipes, indications.
Press the button to switch off the light.
Don't shout at these poor girls. It isn't their fault.
6. Stative verbs

Використання Present Simple
1.Загальновідомі факти
Present Simple використовується для опису загальновідомих істин, наукових фактів, явищ
природи.
The Earth revolves around the Sun. – Земля обертається навколо Сонця.
Snow consists of water. – Сніг складається з води.
At what temperature does water freeze? – За якою температурою замерзає вода?
2.Дії, що регулярно повторюються. А також звички та вподобання.
Present Simple використовується для вираження дій, що регулярно відбуваються або часто
повторюються. Часто це звички або щоденний розклад людини.
I wake up at 6:15 a.m. – Я прокидаюсь о 6:15 ранку (регулярно, кожного дня).
Не runs 10 kilometers every morning. – Він пробігає 10 км кожного ранку.
Do you prefer red wine or white wine? – Ви віддаєте перевагу червоному або білому вину?
3.Розклад та домовленості
Present Simple використовується для вираження розкладу чогось (потягів, автобусів,
телепрограм тощо), а також певної чіткої домовленості про зустріч (побачення, збори, візит
до лікаря), навіть якщо мається на увазі виконання дії в майбутньому часі.
The train leaves at 7 o'clock. – Потяг відправляється о сьомій годині.
Let's meet under the big tree. – Давай зустрінемося під великим деревом.
He has a meeting with the doctor in two hours. – В нього зустріч з лікарем через дві години.
Is the next flight at 9 o'clock tomorrow morning? – Наступний літак вилітає завтра о дев'ятій

4.Коментарі, перекази та відгуки.
Present Simple використовується для зображення або опису послідовних дій, що
відбуваються в цей момент, наприклад, в спортивних оглядах, коментування новин, матчів,
переказі історій тощо.
Saltan intercepts the pass and makes unbelievable goals-kick. – Салтан перехоплює м'яч та
робить неймовірний удар від воріт.
Semmy runs and outstrips her main contender. – Семмі біжить та обганяє свою головну
суперницю.
5.Інструкції
Present Simple використовується в інструкціях, вказівках, рецептах тощо. В цьому випадку
Present Simple має відтінок наказового способу.
Push the button to turn on the TV. – Натисни на кнопку, щоб увімкнути телевізор.
The water is deep here, so don't fall in! – Тут глибоко, тому не впади у воду!
Use a capital letter at the beginning of names. – Використовуйте велику літеру на початку
імен.
6.З "нетривалими" дієсловами
Present Simple використовується з дієсловами, що вказують не на дію, а скоріше на певний
стан, в якому перебуває особа або предмет в даний момент часу.
Do you see me? – Ти бачиш мене?
She feels sad. – Їй сумно.
She appears confused. – Вона виглядає розгубленою.
7.В заголовках
Present Simple використовується в заголовках газет, книг, а також в новинах та
інформаційних повідомленнях для скорочення кількості символів та економії місця.
