An abrupt change in the velocity of a flowing liquid in a pipe generates a pressure wave, which is commonly
referred as "Water Hammer".This tool was developed using the Joukowsky equation to provide you with a
simplified method for calculating the peak transient pressure experienced when a valve is closed against a fluid
in motion. Absent a formal surge analysis, this tool can be used to obtain an estimate of the magnitude of a
surge pressure.
