Population Growth Prediction Model

The document describes a mathematical model problem where the population of a country was 2 million in 1990 and 3 million in 2000. Using an exponential growth formula with the information provided, the predicted population in 2010 is calculated to be 4.5 million.

Mathematical Model
Problem:
A country’s population was 2 million in 1990 and 3 million in 2000. What is the
predicted population of the country to be in 2010?

Equation:
Let t= 0 represent the year 1990, then the original population would be 2 million,
Ao= 2,000,000
A = 𝐴𝑜𝑒 𝑘𝑡
A = 2,000,000 𝑒𝑘𝑡

Explanation:
The formula used is the bacteria growth formula since there was an increase
between the years 1990 and 2000.

Sample Computation:
In the year 2000, t = 10, the population was 3 million, A = 3,000,000.
3,000,000 = 2,000,000 𝑒10𝑘

= 4.5 Million
