Meaningful learning happens in environments where creativity,
awareness, inquiry and critical thinking are part of instruction.
Responsive learning environments adapt to the individual needs of
each student and encourage learning by promoting collaboration
rather than isolation of learners. Learning environment, whether
classrooms, schools, or other system, should be structured to
promote engage teaching and learning.
To be effective for all students, classroom learning environment
must be responsive to a broad range of needs among a diverse
student population. These diverse needs include cultural and
linguistic differences as well as developmental level, academic
readiness, and learning styles. A responsive learning environment
engage all students by proving a respectful climate where
instruction and curriculum are designed to response to the
backgrounds and needs of every student.
In everyday life, you are confronted with the challenges to do the
right thing, When you are faced with professional decisions that
seem to have ethical implication, there are conditions and
provisions of the Code to ethics that will guide you to determine the
actions. Teachers have the responsibility to push their learner to
their full potential and develop their personality.
Teacher have great influence in the live of their learners. They are
expected to be professionally competent in the practice of their
profession. Moreover, they need also to possess good reputation
not only in the school but in the community. Having this big
responsibility in the learning environment, teachers must be guide
by this document which comprehensively discuss the different
expectations from a teacher.
As mandated in the Code of Ethics for Professional Teachers, you
have the responsibility to interact positively with the parents,
community members, and other stakeholders of the school. Contact
with parents must be conducted regularly and keep professional
and free from arguments. If you have an issue with parents,
community members, or stakeholders it must be presented during
meetings and conferences. Being a teacher you must keep recognize
that education is a public service and strive to keep the public
informed of the programs, projects and activities.
Your professional integrity is one of the important parts of your
teaching career. Integrity and professionalism is the glue that holds
competent, strong schools together. There’s no doubt that you will
encounter situations that make you question what you think you
know about being professional and a learning leader but
maintaining your integrity will make you a respected teacher,
valued by colleagues, students, and their parents alike.
Being trustworthy, being honest, and being authentic are key traits
of true professional integrity, but also accepting your own mistakes
without passing the blame to others takes courage within itself. It’s
not always easy to take responsibility for things that happen, but it
is the right thing to do. People with strong professional integrity
choose to do the right thing, even it’s hard. Taking responsibility is
not a cue to beat yourself up when things don’t go right, but should
be viewed as an opportunity to learn from the expectation to allow
personal growth.
Co-Curricular activities, these are activities that are undertaken
along with academic studies. Typically, co-curricular activities are
carried outside the normal classrooms, but they supplement the
academic curriculum and help in learning by doing. These activities
help teachers to develop problem-solving, reasoning, critical
thinking, communication, and collaborative abilities. Co-curricular
activities in school might be compulsory such as music, art, or
drama classes that take place during the day. Other could be
voluntary, such as participating in a school sports team, or school
debating team. In either case, participation helps students in
emotional development, social skill development, and overall
personality development. Therefore, the importance of co-curricular
activities is immense.
When theoretical curriculum and co-curricular activities are
integrated, your chance of learning more and exploring your
strengths, interest, and abilities becomes higher. Therein lies the
importance of co-curricular activities, which are supplementary to
the theoretical curriculum. It is true that much of your intellectual
development happens, to a great extent, in the classroom itself. But,
various other aspect of your personality, such as emotional and
social skill development, happen to a large extent through co-
curricular activities. Therefore, holistic development cannot deny
the key role and importance of co-curricular activities.
