Abstract

This study is a qualitative research which aims to provide a deeper understanding on the

comparison of news and entertainment program’s news framing techniques.

News and Entertainment Programs are two different program formats but may also

feature same story. They may come up with a same story but may take a different frame or

focus on it. Framing is the process of putting emphasis or looking into the story’s different

perspective. Mostly, celebrity-related incidents are the news stories that comes similar in both

program format.

The researchers will use content analysis and in-depth interviews to gather pertinent

data. Using the content analysis, the researchers will analyze and interpret all the selected

videos from TV Patrol and Buzz ng Bayan that contains the Vhong Navarro-Deniece Cornejo

incident aired from January 25, 2014 to March 9, 2014 only. Furthermore, to gather pertinent

information, in-depth interviews will be conducted. The researchers purposively selected two

segment producers, two directors, two writers, three field reporters, one anchor and one

program host as their respondents.
