fe) Fel Measurements INSTANTANEOUS OVERCURRENT AND EARTH FAULT RELAY Type CAG 19 The type CAG19 volay (tiple pole CAG39) is an instantaneous overcurrent and earth fault unit with a high drop off/pick up ratio, low wansient ‘everteach and high thermal rating. It is recom mended for high speed instantaneous tripping in conjunction with auto reclose and inverse definite minimum time (DMT) protection schemes. OPERATION The relay consists of a dic, operated attracted arraatute unit fed via a Saturating transformer and {full wave rectifier. A potentiometer acioss the relay coil and taps on the saturating transformer provide two separate 2:1 ranges of adjustment, giving an everall continuous range of adjust- ment of 4:1 CHARACTERISTICS Current Settings ere continuously adjustable be- tween 10-40%, 20-80% , 50 — 200% , B0—320% F 100—400% of the currenc rating, which may be 1, 2or 5 amps at 80 or 60 Hz. Transient averreach—oss than 1, for system angles of up to 88 dogrees on all settings. Drop off/pick up ratio—areater than 80 ‘Thermal rating—the relay will withstand maxi- ‘mum sotting current continuously and 20 times maximum setting current for 3 seconds on any setting CONTACTS The relay has two pairs of normally open, self reset contacts. Alternatively one pair can be normally ‘open and one pair normally closed, Each pair is rated as follows: Type CAG39 relay in arawout 0352 INSULATION The relay will withstand 2 kV rms. ac. 50 Hz for 1 minute between all live parts and earth and betwean all circuits not intended (0 be con nected together. It will also withstand 1 kV rms. ae. 50 Hz for 1 minute across open contacts, Moke and carry ‘continuously Make and carry ‘or 3 seconds| rea "7500 VA with meme 91 30 amas and 660 volte 2c. Triple pole CAG38 relays are available in size 1 (single tended! or 13 (double-ended) drawout cases. Alter- natively units may be mounted in the same case as IDMT relays. Both cases are available for flush or projecting mounting. The drawout case has the advantage of ease of maintenance and testing and is fitted with a fier which equalises pressure inside and outside with: ‘out admitting dust. A contact is fitted to short circuit the current transformer when the unit is withdrawn from the case. All cases are finished in phenolic black as standard, Standard relays are finished to B.S.2011:20/40/4 and are satisfactory for normal tropical use. Relays for use in exception- ally severe environmems can be finished to B.8.2011:20/80/56 at extra cost Maxim Overs Oimensions cam [magn] wan | Dos [wo [vw [oe [ou [rm [3 | a {10 | 4 [2m fou [om |e | oo bow Da fre bs foe fee | 8] Rade Vin.
