Whale Pop Up Card

You will need:

• Whale Pop Up Card templates
• A4 card: light blue, dark blue, white
• Scissors
• Glue stick
• Felt tip pens

1) First, select a piece of light blue A4 card for the

background of your card.
Fold the card in half widthways.

2) Next, use the scissors to cut two slits into the folded edge
of the card. The slits should be around 5cm apart and 5cm
long.

3) Open the folded card and push the 5cm wide cut section
inside the card and refold the card over the cut section.
When you open up the card, the wide cut section should
stand up in a right angle.

4) Print out the Whale Pop Up Card templates.

Print two copies of the whale template (one on the light
blue card and one on the dark blue card).
Print the message templates onto white card.

5) Using scissors, neatly cut around the whale template on

the dark blue card.

6) Cut inside the whale’s large fin to create a flap.

Be careful not to cut the whole fin off.

7) From the whale template on the light blue card, cut out
the water, eye and underside of the whale’s body.

8) Using glue, secure the light blue eye onto the dark blue
whale.
Place the light blue underside of the whale’s body
underneath the fin flap and glue it into position.
Add glue to the bottom of the water and place it behind the
whale’s head.

9) Use a black felt tip pen to colour in the whale’s eye.

10) From the remaining light blue card of the whale

template, cut a strip from the short side, measuring about
5cm deep.
Cut out waves along the length of the strip of card and use
blue felt tip pens to add more waves details.

section of the folded card, so that the waves cover the
