Values
Values are the principals or ideals we hold as important, good, desirable, or
worthwhile. They are our basic and fundamental beliefs that are closely linked to our
identity and they guide or motivate our attitudes and behaviours. Values are usually
stated as a word or short phrase and are usually positive. Complete the following
individual and group exercises to demonstrate your understanding of the different
types of values.

Activity 1 - Personal Values


Individually, place the values from the columns on the next page onto the pyramid below,
organising them into a hierarchy with the things you value most at the top and the things
you value least at the bottom. If there are any other things you value highly that aren't on the
list, feel free to add them in to your hierarchy!
