We interviewed one of the barangay officials, His name is John Ace Maranan an SK councelor in
barangay timbuban rosario Batangas.
• Have been your community using technology for a long time? Where do you usually use it?
So yes, we use technology here in community by means of communicating, interacting with
other people especially when they are far from us so for example for the past few years of
pandemic since we are not allowed to go outside we are using technology just to communicate
and connect with other people.
• How did technology made things easier for you to administer the community?
So us and SK officials here in our barangay this technology helps a lot by giving and providing
information for the whole community to make them safe and secured in every aspect of their
lives.
• Do you think it helped your community on most of the society's conventions?
Yes, because we all know that technology has a great impact and contribution for our everyday
life especially right now.
• Turning us back to time that it is very limited to access technology, what could be your
assessment of how things process during that time?
I think it is so hard to send a message because the by the way that we are sent is very limited it
has the limitation is terms of writing and sending information so as a sender we should try to be
direct to the point para masabi natin sa media and dapat iparating.
• Current technology innovation had made things easier for people, on the contrary, it lessens
workforce and active participation on a daily basis, what is your take on this disadvantage?
I think we all know that technology have advantage so first it will become our action more
easier our sending message is more convenient but at some point sorry to say that we have also
disadvantaged because especially for the workplace it made us more lazy at some point because
we always depend on technology, what they can do, it's like we don't act on our own anymore,
it's like we rely too much on technology.
• When do you think technology is good to be used with inside the community?
With inside the community I think the best time or the right time to use technology is depends
about upon the situation because as a role model of the youth or the community you should
apply the one of the ethics of social media it is the "think before you click" because the more
chance and time we use social media we become abusive, we don't even know if what we are
posting is right.
• Thinking about how fast the technology have advanced, what are the differences of its uses
or significance from the past and present?
so i will generalize that for the past few years using technology it will enhance our nonverbal
skills right like writing and posting while we are live in a 21st century we are already enhancing
our verbal skills compared before.
•As a barangay official what can you say about the technology from the past and compared to
present and how this technology affects you and the people in this barangay?
So as a barangay official i know from the past that technology was very limited and controlled
while right now the technology were very advance and developed so i think with my
communitiy using the that technological advancement the communication, interaction, and
connection with other people become easier and faster.
