Project 01 Statements:
Create a database of university system according to the following requirements and take your own
assumptions (if needed):
Steps:
1. In a University/college, a student called a class representative represent other student of his
class.
2. A student in a University college takes one or more courses according to his her choice.
3. Course is always taught by a teacher. A teacher cannot exist without a corresponding course.
4. Each department has a chairman, while a chairman runs only one department.
5. In a University, a teacher belongs to one and only one department. However a department
may have at least one or many teachers.
Entity Types and Attributes:
STUDENT: Roll_No, Name, Phone , Address , Email.
COURSE: CourseID, CourseName, CourseFee.
TEACHER: Department, Name, Teacher ID.
DEPARTMENT: Department, location, Phone.
CHAIRMAN: Department, Name, Address.
Relationships:
It is a recursive relationship which states that
“A student may represent zero OR many students” OR “a student must be represented by one
and only one student”
The second step is the relationship can be read as
“A student may take one or more courses “OR “a courses may be taken by zero or many
students”
The teacher is a week entity because it cannot exist without a cross bonding course the
relationship can be read as
“A course is stored by one or many teachers” OR “a teacher teach one or many courses”
A chairman is a weak entity because it's existence is dependent on a cross ponding
department this relationship can be read as
“A chairman department has a chairman” OR “a chairman has a department”
The relationship between entity type’s teacher and department can be read as
“A teacher belongs to one and only one department” OR “a department may have one or
many teachers.
