Glorious Freedom.

Foundation Verse:
John 8:32-36 (New International Version)
32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
33 They answered him, “We are Abraham’s descendants and have never been slaves of anyone. How can you say that we
shall be set free?”
34 Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to sin.
35 Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever.
36 So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.
1. Freedom from Sins John 8:34
A. Its Work - Galatians 5:19-21 - Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry,
sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like
these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
B. Its Wages - Romans 6:23- For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
C. Its Warfare Gal 6:15 - Neither circumcision nor uncircumcision means anything; what counts is the new creation.
2. Freedom from Satan 1 Jn 2:15-16, Matt 4:3-9
1 John 2:15-16 (New International Version) On Not Loving the World
15 Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father[a] is not in them.
16 For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the
Father but from the world.
Matthew 4:3-9 (New International Version)
3 The tempter came to him and said, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.”
4 Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of
God.’[a]”
5 Then the devil took him to the holy city and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. 6 “If you are the Son
of God,” he said, “throw yourself down. For it is written:
“‘He will command his angels concerning you,
and they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’[b]”
7 Jesus answered him, “It is also written: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’[c]”
8 Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor.
9 “All this I will give you,” he said, “if you will bow down and worship me.”
A. From his deception - Genesis 3:4-5
The serpent said to the woman, You surely will not die! For God knows that in the day you eat from it your eyes will be
opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.
B. From his destruction - John 10:10
10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.
C. From his damnation – punishment in hell.
3. Freedom to Serve in God’s Kingdom
A. To gain eternal work - Colossians 3:1-3 - Living as Those Made Alive in Christ
1 Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand
of God.
2 Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.
3 For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.
B. To gain eternal wealth 1 Corinthians 3:11-12
11 For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ.
12 If anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, 13 their work will be shown for
what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each
person’s work.
C. To gain eternal worth - Matthew 25:21-23
21 “His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in
charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’
22 “The man with two bags of gold also came. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘you entrusted me with two bags of gold; see, I have
gained two more.’
23 “His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in
charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’
Gusto mo bang maging malaya?
You want freedom?
True obedience is true freedom.
When God gave you freedom through salvation, your life is no longer worthless. Your life is now a blessing to others.
