Chapter 3

Research Design and Methodology

Chapter 3 consists of five parts: namely; (1) Purpose of the Study and Research Design;

(2) The Participants; (3) The Instrument; (4) Data Collection Procedure; and (5) Data Analysis

Procedure.

Part One, Purpose of the Study and Research Design, describes the kind of research that

will be used in the conduct of the study;

Part Two, The Participants, defines the subjects employed in this study;

Part Three, The Instrument, describes the instrument that was used in gathering data;

Part Four, Data Collection Procedure, presents the processes that were followed in the

conduct of the study; and

Part Five, Data Analysis Procedure, discusses the procedure for scoring the statistical

tools used to test the hypothesis.

Purpose of the Study and Research Design

The study aims to determine the Entrepreneurial Skills and Business Satisfactions of

ABM of Grade 11 and Grade 12 Student in Congressman Ramon A. Arnaldo Highschool enrolled

for the school year 2022 - 2023.

The study utilized a survey research design. It is characterized by the collection and

analysis of quantitative data.

This study was made by the means of quantitative methods of researcher. The

researcher attempted to get the answers to the aforementioned problem and to justify and

satisfy the objectives of the study. Likewise, it also attempted to know the different impact to

their life style.

According to Sis International Research (n.d.) quantitative research is a structured way

of collecting and analyzing data obtained from different sources. Quantitative research involves

the use of computational, statistical, and mathematical tools to derive results. It is conclusive in

its purpose as it tries to quantify the problem and understand how prevalent it is by looking for

projectable results to a larger population.

The independent variable in the study was the entrepreneurial skills which is divided into

four subscales: (1) Leadership Skills, (2) Communicational/Networking Skills, (3)

Resourcefulness/Time Management Skills, (4) Customer Service Skills. The dependent variable

is the Business Proprietorship Satisfaction. Categorical variables such as

The quantitative framework aligns with the research objectives by providing a structured method to evaluate the prevalence and impact of entrepreneurial skills quantitatively. It uses computational, statistical, and mathematical tools to objectively measure relationships between the skills and business satisfaction. This alignment is crucial because the research aims to determine the extent to which these skills affect satisfaction and lifestyle, necessitating a clear, numerical approach to support any conclusions drawn .

The data collection procedure is fundamental to the study's success, as it dictates the accuracy and reliability of the gathered data, upon which analysis and conclusions are based. Proper data collection methods ensure that the data reflect the true status of entrepreneurial skills and business satisfaction among the students, which is essential for testing the study's hypotheses accurately. Additionally, reliable procedures minimize errors and biases, thereby enhancing the credibility and generalizability of the findings .

Quantitative research methods enhance the validity of findings by employing structured collection and analysis approaches, including statistical tools that offer objective measurements. They allow for replicability and reduced bias, which are crucial for validating results across different datasets. By providing projectable results, these methods can reliably indicate trends and relationships between the entrepreneurial skills being studied and business satisfaction, confirming that findings are not due to chance or specific sample peculiarities but are reflective of actual impacts .

The independent variables are the various entrepreneurial skills, divided into Leadership Skills, Communicational/Networking Skills, Resourcefulness/Time Management Skills, and Customer Service Skills. These variables are critical because they define the competencies being studied. The dependent variable, Business Proprietorship Satisfaction, measures the outcome of possessing these entrepreneurial skills. By examining the relationship between these variables, the study aims to establish how specific entrepreneurial skills impact business satisfaction among students, thus achieving the objective of the research design .

Understanding the data analysis procedure is critical because it explains how raw data is transformed into meaningful insights, which validate or refute the study's hypotheses. In this research, the procedures involve scoring statistical tools that interpret the relationships between entrepreneurial skills and business satisfaction. A comprehensive grasp of these procedures is necessary to assess the accuracy and reliability of the findings. It ensures that the significance of relationships detected is based on robust statistical reasoning and not on erroneous data manipulation .

The research design could be improved by incorporating longitudinal elements to observe changes in entrepreneurial skills and business satisfaction over time, providing deeper insights into how these elements develop. Adding qualitative components like interviews could complement quantitative data and yield richer, context-specific insights. Furthermore, a comparative study involving different educational institutions might highlight external factors influencing entrepreneurial skills. Expanding the survey to include broader demographic or psychosocial variables could also identify additional influences on entrepreneurial ability and satisfaction .

Categorical variables enhance exploration by allowing researchers to identify and differentiate impacts across different subgroups. In the context of this study, these variables help track how varied entrepreneurial skills affect business satisfaction differently. Categorical data can reveal the diversity and range of impacts entrepreneurial skills have on the students, thus offering a nuanced understanding of the multifaceted relationship between skills acquisition and business satisfaction .

Findings from this study could influence educational strategies by highlighting the importance of developing entrepreneurial skills within the high school curriculum. If specific skills correlate with increased business satisfaction, educational programs might be adjusted to prioritize these skills, fostering student attributes that align with future economic success. Effective integration can prepare students for entrepreneurship, which might not only enhance business acumen but also improve academic engagement and motivation through practical, skill-oriented learning .

The participants in the study are Grade 11 and Grade 12 students from Congressman Ramon A. Arnaldo Highschool during the 2022-2023 school year. Participant selection is crucial as it directly affects the applicability and relevance of the study's findings. By focusing on this specific demographic, the research aims to understand how entrepreneurial skills manifest in students at a critical educational stage, affecting their future business satisfaction and career decisions. Accurate participant selection ensures that the study results can effectively address its objectives of assessing and analyzing entrepreneurial aptitude in this specific age and educational group .

The survey research design is significant in this study because it allows for the collection and analysis of quantitative data from a larger population, thereby providing conclusive insights. It helps quantify the problem and assess the prevalence of entrepreneurial skills and business satisfaction among the students. This method is capable of generating projectable results that can be generalized to a larger group, which is essential for understanding the broader impact of these skills on student life .
