Requirements
<Months of entrance> April / October
<Qualification for Admission> Persons who have been educated in their countries more
than twelve years, or who have a qualification equal to that.
<Period of study> Two years / A year and a half
<School hours> Five days a week(Monday to Friday)
Four hours a day(Either the morning or afternoon class)
The morning class 9:00 to 12:45
The afternoon class 13:15~17:00
※Your class will be decided based on the result of a placement test.
<When to apply>※It depends on the year.
April enrolment: Sep. 5 to Nov. 15
October enrolment: Mar. 15 to May 15
<Processing Fee> Please pay 20,000 yen when you submit your application for admission.
<Tuition & Fees>
◆For the first year◆

Please pay these fees before entering to school.
②Equipment Fee 50,000
①+②+③=¥710,000
③Tuition Fee 560,000
Other Fee 27,000 Please pay it at the orientation for incoming students on the first day
of school.

Please send it by post within the deadline.
The documents which are written except in Japanese need Japanese translation in another paper.
Admissions Process
April October

① Submit an application for admission and


necessary documents to UJLS. By the end of
By early Nov.
② UJLS makes application for certificate of May
eligibility based on submitted documents.

③ Apply to Immigration. In late Nov. In early June


④ Receive the certificate of eligibility.
(In case you’re not able to get the certificate,
the process will be finished at this point.)
⑤ Pay ¥710,000 within 3 weeks after we let you
know your certificate of eligibility.
⑥ UJLS will send you the original certificate of In late Feb. In late Aug.

⑦ Go to Japanese Embassy in your country or
immigration office in Japan.

⑧ Receive the Student Visa after the acceptance. By late Mar. By late Sep.

Do not forget to bring ¥27,000.

★Preparation for living in Japan★

You might need ¥60,000 to ¥80,000 per month for living in Utsunomiya where UJLS is located.(For
rent, utility fee, cost for food, phone bill and so on.)
Around ¥150,000 will required when you sign a one year or two year lease for the apartment.
(Furniture are not included.)
Foreign students can work 28 hours a week and get paid about ¥100,000 to ¥120,000 a month.
Having enough financial support might be very important point to get the certificate of eligibility.

UJLS doesn’t have a student accommodation. You need to sign a rental contract for apartment by
your self after visiting Japan. We can help you to find an apartment, if you need.

Utsunomiya City Profile


Utsunomiya city is the biggest city in Northern Kanto area
and its population is more than 500,000. The city is popular
for Gyoza(Japanese dumplings), Cocktail, Jazz and Sports.
It is 100 km away from the capital of Japan, Tokyo.
It takes 2hours by local train and 50 minutes by Shinkansen
bullet, so it is not so far and easy to access.

Also, Utsunomiya is one of the most livable city. One of the


reason is its housing cost. You can get almost the same UTSUNOMIYA
salary in Utsunomiya and Tokyo, but the housing cost in
Utsunomiya is almost half of the its in Tokyo.

We have cultural properties such as “shrines and temple in


Nikko” registered on the world heritage list. It is just an hour
by car from Utsunomiya city.

Utsunomiya is the best place for studying because it is TOKYO


flourishing but be able to feel history with rich natural
environment .

School Life in UJLS


<Environment >Students study without any restriction in spacious and light classroom.
<Future>Most students go to technical college or university and keep studying after graduate.
Its percentage is depends on year but some of them enter the prestigious university.
<Education>Classes are divided into 3 levels: beginner, intermediate, advanced.
UJLS supports not only studying Japanese language but also your life in Japan.
At the time of renewing Visa, we do a conference with each student and teach them how to
apply it.
For renewing student Visa, improving the attendance rate is very important.
We have a make-up class for student whose attendance rate is under 90%.
