Recognizing, Reading and Writing Money!

This module is designed to equip you, learners, with

essential knowledge, skills, and attitude on Ordinal Numbers
and Recognizing, Reading and Writing Money.

This module is designed so you can pace yourself as you

use them to achieve the prescribed learning competency. It
also aims to prepare you to be at the forefront of the fast-
growing world of industry and in your quest for higher

protocols implemented by the government to prevent the
spread of COVID-19.

They waited patiently for their turn to receive a

It will be a first come , first serve basis.

 WHAT IS IT
LESSON 1: Ordinal Numbers

An ordinal number is a number defining a thing's position

in a series, such as “first,” “second,” or “third.”

To write ordinal numbers in symbol and in words,

connect the number with the letter st for numerals with the
number or digit 1 (1st, first), nd for numerals with the number
or digit 2 (2nd, second), rd for numerals with the number or
digit 3 (3rd, third), and th for numerals with the number or
digit 4 and above (4th, fourth).
Except for eleventh, twelfth, and thirteenth (11th, 12th, 13th),
all other numbers take the letters th.
Below is the chart of ordinal numbers from 1 to 100 in
symbols and in words

Here are examples in writing the ordinal numbers in symbols

1. Forty-fifth = 45th (use superscript th because of the ordinal

fifth)

2. Sixty-second = 62nd (use superscript nd because of the

ordinal second)

Here are examples in writing ordinal numbers in words.

1. 53rd = fifty-third (use the ordinal numbers rd because of the

last digit 3)

2. 71st = seventy-first (use st because of the last digit 1)

Now let us study these pictures to identify the ordinal

numbers being asked for.

1. Since Lito is 1st ( first ) in line, who do you think is in the 7th
position ? If your answer is Gina, then you are correct!

2. What ordinal number represents the last person in line?

If your answer is 10th ( tenth) , you are right!

3. If the point of reference is Jay who is 32nd in line, what

ordinal numbers will represent Riza and Roman?
Riza is 33rd ( thirty-third) in line since she is just next to Jay.
Roman is 29th ( twenty-ninth) in line since he is the third
person after Jay.

Our money here in the Philippines are in coins and bills.

Our coins and bills are written in symbols and in words.

We write PHP or use the symbol ₱ ( peso sign) for bill. We

use the symbol ¢ ( centavo sign) for centavo or coin.

Modules will be distributed today. My mother wore her face

mask and face shield before leaving home. She rode a taxi to go to
school and spent ₱ 52.00 for it.

When she reached school, she filled up a Health Declaration

form, checked her body temperature and disinfected her hands with
alcohol. She was the 31st person who arrived to school .

She waited patiently for her turn to get my modules.

My Mother
