Plagiarism
As part of your study, you will be involved in carrying out research and using this when writing up your
coursework. It is important that you correctly acknowledge someone else’s writing, thoughts, or ideas and that
you do not attempt to pass this off as your own work. Doing so is known as plagiarism. It is not acceptable to
copy from another source without acknowledging that it is someone else’s writing or thinking. This includes
using paraphrasing as well as direct quotations. You are expected to correctly cite and reference the works of
others. The Centre for Academic Writing provides documents to help you get this right. If you are unsure, please
visit [Link]/caw. You can also check your understanding of academic conduct by completing the
Good Academic Practice quiz available on Moodle.
Moodle includes a plagiarism detection system and assessors are experienced enough to recognise plagiarism
when it occurs. Copying another student’s work, using previous work of your own or copying large sections
from a book or the internet are examples of plagiarism and carry serious consequences. Please familiarise
yourself with the CU Harvard Reference Style (on Moodle) and use it correctly to avoid a case of plagiarism or
cheating being brought. Again, if you are unsure, please contact the Centre for Academic Writing, your Progress
Coach or a member of the course team.
You can expect to have marked work returned to you within 15 working days. If for any reason, there is a delay
you will be kept informed. Marks and feedback will be provided online and face to face. As always, marks will
have been internally moderated only, and will therefore be provisional; your mark will be formally agreed later
in the year once the external examiner has completed his / her review.

Student Paper
Project management is a collection of tasks that are carried out to accomplish specified goals.
These actions might involve putting procedures, techniques, skills, expertise, and other practical
knowledge to use. The report will go through the fundamentals of project management before
examining the project's feasibility in terms of success or failure. In the paper, important project
management ideas and techniques as well as project success criteria will be covered. The most
appropriate organizational structure and operating procedures will also be determined by the report
in order to effectively complete the project. The methodologies for project control and
coordination, as well as the role and strategy for managing leadership and human resource
management, will be covered in a later report. The report will also create a project plan and
compute an accurate time estimate. The project will make use of performance management to
provide high-caliber outcomes. The project change control processes and the efficiency of the
prepared project in business processing will be defined in the report.
I. Project initiation document
1. Project scope statements
Justification – This also provides a succinct description of the business need that the project will
fulfill. Every endeavor has to have a goal. Businesses might start addressing the need or need by
defending the project's goal. (KAJAL, 2021)
Scope Description – The features of the goods and services that will be delivered once the project
is finished are included in the scope description. This aids in controlling stakeholders' expectations
as well. (Landau, 2022)
Business objectives – This seeks to define the company's goals that will be achieved after the
project is finished. It may contain the market that the company wants to enter in order to expand
and make money, as well as the target audience it wants to attract. (Landau, 2022)
Deliverables – These are the outcomes the project management team must deliver in order to
fulfill the corporate goals. Project deliverables include the actual good or service that will be
provided by the project, together with its marketing collateral, advertising campaigns, news
releases, etc. (Landau, 2022)
Exclusions – Project exclusions must be explicitly stated, just as the project's deliverables. This
also pertains to what the initiative does not hope to achieve or create. (KAJAL, 2021)
Constraints – These are the constraints or limits that will have an impact on the project's
outcomes. The top three project restrictions are time, money, and scope. However, the project may
be affected by a number of additional limitations, including those related to human resources,
hazards, and client expectations. (KAJAL, 2021)
Assumptions – These are explanations of how to deal with the project's restrictions, including
how they will be handled in order to provide the intended outcomes. An effective Project Scope
Statement is crucial for identifying the project's goals. (KAJAL, 2021)
2. Work breakdown structure
A project management technique used to specify and oversee project deliverables is the work
breakdown structure. The phases of a project, which include beginning, planning, building,
monitoring and controlling, and ending. WBS will enable managers to clearly identify the time,
expenses, and resources required for each job, improving the efficiency of their work, reducing
risks, and ensuring that the tasks they have been given are completed.
One popular graphic representation of a project schedule is a Gantt chart. This particular form of
bar chart displays the start and finish dates of the project's many components, including its
resources, schedule, and dependencies. Gantt charts are comprehensive diagrams based on WBS
that are full of large and minor tasks, estimate the time required for each task to complete in order
to allocate resources and funds, and indicate the progress of project tasks.
What portion has been completed? Since the project's completion date was moved forward from
October 12 to January 5, most activities, including project planning, stakeholder coordination, and
scope management, have been completed to 80% of their original deadlines. Additionally, the
implementation phase is progressing well and is anticipated to be finished on schedule.
4. Project Stakeholders Assessment
Stakeholders are individuals that are interested in the results of your project. They often include
project team members, managers, executives, sponsors, clients, and users. Stakeholders are those
who will be impacted by your project at any stage of its development, and their input may have a
significant influence on the final result. To work together on the project, effective stakeholder
management and ongoing communication are crucial.(Wrike, 2022)
The precise relationship a stakeholder has with your company is one of the important elements
that defines whether or not they are a critical stakeholder. Customers, staff, investors, managers,
and other people with an interest in your company's success might all be considered stakeholders.
• Employees: When a company has a significant impact on both them and the firm, the
employee is a critical stakeholder.
• Customers: Customers can be impacted by the nature and scope of a company's products,
making them one of your stakeholders. If a consumer helps develop or carry out a new
business initiative, they could be one of your major stakeholders.
• Invertors: Investors frequently play a vital role in your company's success since they
immediately impact your personal or corporate finances.
• Company leaders: The leaders of a firm manage important choices on daily operations,
long-term objectives, and development initiatives.
• Competitors: Although they might be a problem for your organization, rivals are frequently
significant stakeholders. A rival may have an impact on the strategic choices or day-to-day
operations of your company if they provide comparable goods or services to the market.
• Government agencies: Your country's or region's political system has an impact on how
you run your business. Taxes on businesses, workplace safety standards, and financial
safeguards are governed by rules and regulations created by government bodies.
• Vendors: Suppliers, distributors, and contractors for your company are examples of
vendors. They could provide raw materials, technology, or business financing to your
organization.
• Communities: The neighborhood in which a firm operates and makes choices might have
an impact. For instance, a company's reputation both locally and internationally may be
impacted by the thoughts of the local community.
Different stakeholders call for different levels of focus. You can determine the stakeholders who
support and oppose your project, how passionately they feel about it, and how much they can
influence its conclusion by doing a thorough study. You may decide who to include and how much
as the project develops with the aid of this useful information. This will help you focus your efforts
and prevent you from wasting time or money. Trying to convince someone who is already
supportive of your initiative, for instance, of the advantages of your project. (Grégoire, 2022)
5. Risk assessment
The systematic process of discovering, evaluating, and controlling risks and hazards is known as
a risk assessment. An expert does this task to decide what steps should be taken to reduce or
eliminate risk in the workplace in every probable circumstance. (Culture, 2022)
II. Demonstrate understanding of project management success factors
No of the size or nature of the project, there are 5 crucial components that you must master if
you want to succeed. The same fundamental factors must be taken into account when managing
projects, regardless of whether they are aimed at enhancing an already-existing good or service,
managing change, or putting in place a new system. If you handle these correctly, you will
successfully manage a project. If you get them incorrect, obstacles, troubles, and challenges
will arise for your project. (Chapman, 2016)
In order to ensure that all your projects reach the required level of success, here are the 5
essential elements that need to be included:
• Strategic Planning: Understanding the need for the project and what it is aiming to
accomplish is the first step in every project. It is necessary to define SMART (Specific,
Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, and Timely) objectives as well as success indicators and
significant turning points so that progress can be evaluated. (Chapman, 2016)
• Product development: So that there is a clear connection between the performance of the
project and the influence on overall company goals, the advantages of a project should be
clearly stated at the outset. Projects can involve a wide range of different tasks, such as
developing new goods, procedures, or services. (Chapman, 2016)
• Communication: End users must comprehend the project's benefits in order for it to be
implemented, and prospective customers must be persuaded of the merits of new goods
and services. (Chapman, 2016)
• Resources: It is crucial to make sure that there are enough people, resources, funds, and
equipment available. Internally, this can entail the IT division supplying the necessary gear
and software, the human resources division hiring the required personnel, or the facilities
division providing offices and other pertinent support. Additionally, funds must be set
aside, as well as proper deadlines for project completion. (Chapman, 2016)
• People: A project manager never works alone. A project involves several stakeholders,
each of whom has a particular function to perform and a stake in the project's success.
Sponsors, project managers, and members of the project team are among the important
stakeholders who propel initiatives and contribute to their success. (Chapman, 2016)
1. Organisational structure
An organizational structure is a system that outlines how certain activities are directed in order
to achieve the goals of an organization. These activities can include rules, roles, and
responsibilities. The organizational structure also determines how information flows between
levels within the company. For example, in a centralized structure, decisions flow from the
top down, while in a decentralized structure, decision-making power is distributed among
various levels of the organization. Having an organizational structure in place allows
companies to remain efficient and focused (KENTON, 2022)
2. Organisational culture
Beyond your products, services, profits, and goals, your organizational culture is what makes
your business. When we talk about organizational culture, we are talking about the values and
behaviors that contribute to the social and psychological environment of your business. Every
business is the sum total of the people in it, and we are all completely different.
Organizational culture is the set of values, expectations, and practices that guide and inform
the actions of all team members. Think of it as the set of traits that make up your company. A
great culture exhibits positive traits that lead to improved performance, while a dysfunctional
company culture brings out qualities that can hinder even the most successful organizations.
Don't confuse culture with an organization's goals or mission statement, although both can help
define it. Culture is created through consistent and authentic behaviors, not press releases or
policy documents. You can observe company culture in action when you see how a CEO
responds to a crisis, how a team adapts to new customer needs, or how a manager corrects an
employee who made a mistake. (Wong, 2020)
• How you conduct your business – including how you treat your employees, how you
treat your customers, and how you interact with your wider community.
• In the extent to which people feel free to express their opinions, make decisions, and
develop new ideas.
• In the relationships between staff in management, including how power and
information flow through your hierarchy.
• Employee engagement – your company culture will directly influence how
committed your employees are to their jobs, and how investments they are to your
goals and vision. (Wong, 2020)
Organizations with a “good” culture can expect:
EI is the ability to intentionally manage your emotions so that they work for you both
professionally and personally. It's not about being nice. It's about authenticating and meeting your
own uniquely defined needs while helping others identify and meet their unique needs. It is
absolutely necessary to have good EI to reason well and be competitive. (Casper, 2002)
To put it quickly, project management is essential for the company to supervise the project. The
team leader has to have a thorough awareness of the project life cycle, risk, and risk management
in order to create a strategy for the project's success. Additionally, by choosing the appropriate
equipment and keeping in mind the iron triangle while predicting the length of the procedure, you
may be able to finish the job on schedule. This is why the paper included examples of how to use
tools like the WBS and Gantt Chart. Team initiatives also need to be aware of when they seem to
be falling short of their goals and know when to stop before going over budget.
