Product Manual for FU-type Chain conveyer
1. Foreword
This company has strong technical force and is authorized to carry out independent import
& export business. It is a production enterprise specialized in production of machinery for
building materials industry, conveyer machines machinery for metallurgical industry,
etc. .Its products are sold well at home and abroad.
FU-type chain conveyer (here in after referred to as FU-type CC)is a 90s’energy-saving
new product, designed by the company with advanced technology introduced from abroad.
It can be used in building materials industry, metallurgical industry, light industry, cereal
processing and other industries for horizontal or sloped(with an angle of slope ≤
15°)conveying of powdered material, granular material or small-sized lump material. It has
overcome disadvantage of screw conveyer and other types of conveyer, and is an ideal
conveying equipment for renovation.
At present, seven sizes of FU-type chain conveyer: FU150, FU200, FU270,FU350, FU410,
FU500 and FU600 are available.
FU-type chain convey is manufactared in accordang with standard Q/HZ 001-96.
Ⅱ.Principle and features of FU-type chain conveyer
Principle of chain conveyer: bulk material has feature of internal friction and lateral
pressure. In the trough of the conveyer, the material subjects to traction force of the
conveying chain in direction of its moving, This increases internal pressure of the material
and increases internal friction between mains of the material. In the process of the material
conveying, this internal friction ensure stable state between layers of the material forming
continuous flow of the whole material. When internal friction between grains of the
material is larger than external friction between material and trough wall, the material
moves forward along with the conveying chain. In case the ratio of height of the material
layer to the width of the trough meets a definite value, the material flow is stable.
FU-type CC has advantages of high conveying capacity, long conveying distance, low
specific power consumption, long service life, life, little environmental pollution, flexible
-2-
process arrangement, low operation cost, simple erection, operation and maintenance, etc.
Ⅲ.Materials which can be conveyed by FU-type chain conveyer and requirements on
materials
FU-type CC can be used for conveying powdered material, granular material, small-sized
jump material, such as cement, limestone, powdered coal, crushed coal, coke powder,
ammonium, chloride. Hydrogen carbonate, urea, phosphorite powder, phosphorite,
concentrate of pirate sand, pirate slag, sodium chloride, sodium sulfite, PVC, synthetic
chemical fertilizer, graphite, synthetic detergent, salt, soda ash, petroleumcoke calcium
carbonate etc.
Density of material =0.1~2.5t/m3
Temperature of material≤200℃.
Grain sizes of material are shown in tab 1.

Water content: water content is related to grain sizes of the material. Normally, the bulk
should be as follows: to grasp the material by hand to from a lump, loose the hand and the
material becomes again in bulk form.
FU-type chain conveyer is not recommended for conveying the following materials:
1. Highly suspended material;
2. Too hard material with too big lump size;
-3-
3. High-abrasive material;
4. High-compressive material;
5. High-adhesive material;
6. Material with strong fluidity;
7. Fragile material, which should not be broken during conveying;
8. High corrosive material(for this kind material, anti-corrosive chain conveyer can be
used).
Ⅳ.Process arrangement of FU-type series CC
FU-type series CC has three kinds of feeding inlet, upper feeding inlet, one-side feeding
inlet and both-sides feeding inlet. It has three kinds of discharge outlets: discharge outlet at
the head, discharge outlet at the bottom of the middle section, discharge outlet at the side of
the middle section. Number and location of feeding inlet and discharge outlet can be
defined according to the requirements of the client. However, the minimum distance
between the center of the feeding inlet and the end axis, as well as the minimum distance
between the center of the discharge outlet at the head and the head axis shall have a definite
value for each type of CC. This means, that actually conveyable distance is a little bit
shorter than total length of the CC.
If the material shall be conveyed for a very long distance, or the capacity of one CC can’t
meet the requirement, it is practicable to use several sets of CC in serial connection or in
parallel.
Ⅴ.Erection and trial running of FU-type series CC
1. Erection procedure of FU-type series CC
⑴The client shall carefully read and understand the general assembly drawing of CC and
this manual.
⑵Carefully count parts and components according to the delivery list.
⑶Place the U-steel support(piece no. 17 in the general assembly drawing)to the right
position.
⑷Cut the asbestos rope of Φ10, delivered along with the equipment, into three pieces.
⑸Place the first section, all middle sections(including non-standard sections)and the last
-4-
section to the right positions(pay attention to placing direction of non-standard middle
section). Mark lines on the casing of the machine according to the locations of the feeding
inlet and the discharge outlet. Cut the openings with gas, and then weld the inlet and outlet
onto the casing of the machine.
⑹Pad the asbestos rope to all flange connections, connect the flanges with bolts. Do not
tight the nuts at this moment. Connect the pressing plate(piece no. 13 in the general
assembly drawing), U-steel support, the machine casing(piece no. 2,3,4,5etc in the general
assembly drawing). Do not tight the nuts at this moment.
⑺Adjust the straightness of the whole machine casing by touching s cord line tightly onto
the top of the left(right)lateral plate to ensure that the gap between the lateral plates(left and
right)and the cord line in vertical plane be not more than 4 mm. Connection of the inner
openings of the flanges of the machine casing shall be smooth and tight. Only the inner
opening of the flange at the downstream of the CC moving direction is permitted to has a
slight dislocation, a little bit lower. Value of the dislocation shall not exceed 1.5 mm. Tight
the nuts at the flanges and the U-steel support, while adjusting.
⑻Measure the tolerance between the upper rail and the central line of the machine casing
by means of tensioning a cord line along central line of the head sprocket and the end
sprocket. This tolerance shall not exceed 2 mm.
⑼If the CC is relatively long or it is difficult to erect the drag chain(piece no. 9 in the
general assembly drawing)in one time, the drag chain shall be erected section by section
after part of the machine casing has been erected. In this case, the last section of the above
step⑸shall be erected finally. Ensure the drag chain can roll on upper and lower rails
smoothly and transfer to both ends of the upper and lower rails safely.
⑽Adjust tension bolt of the last section to ensure proper tightness of the drag chain.
Deflection of drag chain at the loose side in the first section shall be 1/15-1/25X (where X
is the horizontal distance between the head shaft and the shaft of the supporting wheel).
Before adjustment, the chain tension device at the last section shall be located in the middle
of the whole stroke length. After adjustment, the center line of the last shaft shall be
perpendicular to the central plane of the machine casing to prevent the drag chain from
“climbing up”.
⑾After erection of the drive as indicated in the general assembly drawing and before
-5-
erection of the drag chain(piece no.1), switch on the power supply and check if the rotating
direction of the electric motor is correct(the correct rotating direction shall ensure the
tensed chain be at the lower position). The electrical part shall be equipped with overload
protection device.
⑿Switch off the power supply, adjust location of the drive, to be sure that parallelism
between axis line of the head shaft and the axis line of the outlet shaft of the drive does not
exceed±ΔC/300L(mm), where L is effective length of the outlet haft of the drive in mm,
ΔC is difference, at both ends of the effective length, between the center line of the outlet
shaft of the drive and the center line of the head shaft of the first section(mm). To be sure
that the location deviation value between center lines of the big and the small sprockets
does not exceed±C/1000mm, where C is central distance between the big and the small
sprockets.
⒀Install the driving chain onto the big and the small sprockets, adjust the location of hoods
of the sprockets, and then connect the supporting plate for fixing hood of the sprocket to the
first section of the machine casing by welding or with bolts.
⒁Connect the foundation of the drive and foundation of the first section. Methods for
connection shall be determined depending on the actual situation on site.
⒂Clean the trough. No foreign matters are permitted to remain in the trough.
⒃Switch on the power supply, keep the conveyer running for 15 minutes without load. If
no problem occurs. Switch off the power supply, fix the pressing plate and machine easing
of the first section to the U-steel support by point welding.
⒄Install cover plates of all machine casings and connection cover plates(piece no. 15 in the
general assembly drawing), to the machine casing. Their connection surface shall be
padded with asbestos rope.
2. Trial running of CC
Before trial running fill in sufficient lubricant for the drive device and other parts.
⑴After completion of erection, CC should run for 2 hours without load. Trial running
without load shall accord with the following regulations:
a. Moving direction of conveying chain shall comply with the required direction. While
entering the bead sprocket, gearing should be correct; and while leaving, there should be
no phenomena of chain blocking or jumping.
-6-
b. Moving of conveying chain shall be smooth, no jump or swing. The gap between chain
hook and both sides of the machine casing shall be uniform. The inner chain shall have
no swing, no blockage and no touching.
During trial running without load, there should be operators standing at the main locations
of the first the last and the middle sections, watching the running state. If any problem
discovered, timely stop running and deal with the problem. For convenient observation,
covers on the first, the last and the middle sections can be open. After the trial running
immediately close the covers and fix them with bolts.
⑵After trial running without load for 2 hours, carry out trial running with load. Trial
running with load shall accord with the following regulations:
a. The CC shall not run in reversal direction.
b. Check if the material complies with requirements of the CC. If not, measures should be
taken to solve the problem. Otherwise, trial running with load is not permitted.
c. Start the CC without load. After running becomes normal gradually feed the material and
let it reach the designed level. The feeding shall be uniform and continuous. To prevent
CC from blocking or overload, sudden feeding is not allowed.
d. Feeding inlet shall be equipped with grate to prevent big lumps of material or foreign
matters from entering into the trough.
e. Make record of the original data during trial running, including voltage, current, power
capacity, linear speed of the conveying chain, amount of conveyed material etc. Check if
the recorded data comply with the actual requirements.
After trial running with load for 8 hours, stop the test. Before stop running, first stop
feeding. CC can be stopped only after the residual material in the trough discharged out.
Stopping the running of CC under full load is normally not allowed. In case that CC stops
under full load due to sudden accident or emergency. It should not be restarted before the
trouble has been released. While restarting, first, run CC by jogging for several times, or
properly remove the material from the trough, then start running normally.
In case that several CC are in serial connection, according to the moving direction of the
material the last CC shall be started first, and then gradually start the previous one in
sequence. The sequence for stopping is opposite to the sequence for starting.
Electrical interlocking or overload protection can be adopted.
-7-
Ⅵ.Operation regulations for CC
In order to extend the service life of CC and bring its functions into full play, the
Following regulations shall be observed:
1. Assign special person (s) for operation and maintenance of CC. Non-related person is not
allowed to start CC.
2. Preparation before starting:
⑴Cheek the cable, switch and electrical overload protection device, if they are in good
conditions.
⑵Check all fixing parts if they are tight.
⑶Cheek all lubrication points, if they are filled with lubricants sufficiently.
⑷Cheek if there is any chain blockage.
3. First start CC without load. And then feed the material.
4. CC can be stopped only after the material entirely discharged out to ensure that the next
start be no-load starting.
5. Hard big lumps will cause chain block and under such situation, it is easy to damage the
machine. So, feed the material into CC uniformly. No hard big lumps is allowed to be
mixed in the material.
6. Regularly check working state of all mechanisms of CC, while it is in operation. Pay
attention to fixing parts and be sure they are tight. Immediately stop CC, when loosing or
falling-off of the fixing parts has been discovered.
7. In order to avoid accident or damage of the machine, it is not allowed to take off any
cover when CC is in operation to avoid accident or damage of the machine.
8. It is not allowed to use CC to convey corrosive material, hard material, material with high
moisture content, or material with temperature≥200℃(for details please read the relative
regulations in Paragraph Ⅲ of this Manual).
9. CC is not allowed to run in reversal direction.
10. At beginning stage of the operation, the length of the chain will increase a little bit.
Check deflection of the conveying chain in the first section as per regulations specified in
table 3. Be sure, that the deflection is within the range of 1/15X~1/25X(where X is the
horizontal distance between the head shaft and the shaft of the supporting wheel). If the
-8-
deflection is too big, adjust the tension screw rod at the last section, or remove one
ring(or several rings)of the chain. When adjusting, ensure that the end shaft be
perpendicular to central plane of the machine casing, thus preventing the conveying chain
from “climbing up”.If “climbing up”is discovered, immediately adjust the tension
screw rod to ensure that the end shaft be perpendicular to central plane of the machine
easing.

day . In case that CC is in continuous operation for 24 hours a day, times for checking
lubricant shall be increased properly. In case of operation under high temperature,
specification of lubricant shall be considered.
The above mentioned specification and regulation are just for your reference.
Ⅶ.Maintenance of FU-type CC
Rational and timely maintenance can ensure CC in good technical state, guarantee
reliability of its operation, and increase its service life. Each client can work out a practical
-9-
maintenance system according to the concrete situation of this unit. FU-type CC shall adopt
three-grade maintenance system as described below:
1. Routine maintenance
⑴Keep the environment clean. Regularly clean the machine body and the drive.
⑵Check fixing parts; be sure there are no loosing or falling-off of the fixing parts.
⑶Check all lubrication points; be sure the lubricant is sufficient.
⑷Check the plug, socket and fuse if they are in good conditions.
2. First grade maintenance: carry out check and maintenance after the FU-type CC has
been in operation for 3 consecutive months. The aim is to check the completeness, to
prevent the mechanical components. The items of the first grade maintenance are as
follows:
⑴Wash the drive. Lubricate the conveying chain, change lubricant in the gear box.
⑵Check the coil and iron core of the electromagnetic switch. if they can move up and
down flexible. Check if the oil cup is short of oil. Check if level and viscosity of oil are in
compliance with the specification. Check if the contact points are in good conditions.
⑶Clean the electric motor.
3. Second grade maintenance
Carry out check and maintenance after the FU-type CC has been in operation for one year.
Keep the record in file for reference for the future maintenance. The items of the second
grade maintenance are as follows:
⑴Open the wire connection box of the electric motor. Check the isolation between
phase-lines, and isolation between phase line and metal casing. Once the isolation
resistance is less than 0.5 mega-Ohm, it is necessary to find the reason and to correct it.
⑵Open the terminals plate; check, clean and calibrate it.
⑶Check the wearing parts; replace them if they are over-worn.
