Guide Questions
1. How globalized are you?
I believe that I am globalized to the point that I am aware to a few news from outside the country
especially at the west and its few current political stances, but not globalized enough to take an
active role in the community and help with the information that I gained from the flow of
information.

Globalization is the flow of ideas, knowledge, technology, goods and services from different
parts of the world. It is the exchange of goods and the expansion of the businesses to other
countries to make the products readily available into different parts of the world.
LET’S EXPLORE!
In this activity, you are to see the actual application of globalization to the different aspects of daily life
such as politics, music, sports, movies, celebrity and disaster.
1. Answer the following questions:
a. Write down at least five most recent songs you have listened. Where did they originate?

made? Where is the company based?
The devices that I use to listen to these music are my Laptop (Acer) and my cellphone
(Samsung) and these gadjets or devices are commonly made or assembled in China because they
rely in China’s supply chain and their companies are based on Taiwan and Korea respectively.
c. How did you access these music? Did you purchase these online? Or listen to them through
Youtube, Spotify or other music channels?
I can access these songs on YouTube and just listen to them online and sometimes, youtube
has the option to download the songs, music videos or lyrics and listen to them while you’re
offline and is sometimes convenient when you don’t have an internet connection.
2. Using your own words, how do you define globalization?
In my own words, globalization is the circulation of products, ideas, information, technology etc.
on the market all over the world and having easy access to them. Culture can even be brought to
other countries. The music that I listen to can be considered as “liquid” according to the metaphors of
globalization of this module because it in the a continuous flow and is very difficult to stop so
everyone with access to internet can listen to these music, and it could be one of the best example of
globalization.
In this activity, look for and read three newspaper opinion editorials discussing globalization. You may
use local and hfsinternational newspapers. Write a 100-
word summary for each opinion editorials. Identify
whether they subscribe to a particular definition discussed
or they have new definition.
Submit your summary in the email juvely@[Link]
In the first article is talking about the effects of globalization on African footbal and they used the
definition from the Wikipedia site where it is said that it is a widespread of goods, capital, services etc.
and the effects of globalization to African football is that they are sometimes being exploited due to the
migration of Africans to Europe and this mostly happens due to the expected remittances back home by
professionals. Africans at their homes would rather watch European footbal rather than their own
competitions because it has become less attractive by shipping the best players out the continent.
In the second article is about, the effects of the recent pandemic COVID – 19 to the globalization
and it is said that it created challenges that include the immediate health crisis, climate change, and global
inequality. The effects of the disease can be significantly felt at poor countries and it made the global
supply chains to become more protectionist which means that country will prioritize first the well being
of their own rather than creating more funds for themselves by selling their products in other countries.
COVID-19 has worsend the inequalities between the developed and developing countries.
In the third article, they defined globalization as the interconnectedness which is pretty obvious
today due to the technological advancement and it intensifies the many aspects of the global economy. It
is linked to the rising inequalities experienced in developed liberal economies like United Kingdom (UK)
because of the competitions in trade and the effects of the technology. I also tackles the perspective of
people to the globalizatioins which is described as “unfathomable” in the effects that it causes to the daily
lives of people that are very much affected by it. The effects of globalization to the world is a mix of
possitive and negative things.
Although globalization is an overwhelming concept, it is experienced by people in number of ways in
real terms. Though this activity, you will be able to gain a firsthand knowledge of the experiences of
the Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) who obviously reached other countries. Their stories could
provide concrete understanding of how globalization affects themselves, their families and the country.
1. Find a former or a current OFW to be interviewed. Your respondent’s name should not be
revealed to protect the person’s identity and ensure anonymity.
2. Use the following guide questions (you may have additional questions)
a. How long have you stayed abroad?
She stayed in Canada for more than 10 years
b. What are the purpose of your stay there?
The purpose of her stay is to, help her son to study and to give him a quality life.
c. What were your most unforgettable experience there? How would you describe them?
Good or bad?
When she met her new husband after her previous marriage has been annuled and had twins and
she described it as a good experience.
d. How will you compare Philippines to other countries?
First of all it is very obvious that the economy of the country that she visited is very rich and it is
the very reason why she was able to support her son despite being a single mother before.
e. Do you want to go back abroad or to other countries in the future? Why? Why not?
She currently lives in Canada because she has a new family in there and decided to bring her son
with her so that she can help him directly now and to also make up for the lost time. Currently, she has no
reason to visit other countries and is currently content with the life she has now.
3. Based on the interview conducted, write a reflection paper about the response of OFW you have
interviewed. Discuss major points and relate his or her responses to the concept you have
learned about globalization. Reflection paper must be typewritten, hard or soft copy ( soft
copies can be submitted through email) font is Times New Roman, size 11, double spaced and
justified. Not less than 300 words.
Talents and labor is pretty much demanded in other countries especially developed ones, and
people from undeveloped countries take this opportunity to take advantage of that to improve their way of
living and their families they left back home. It is also a tremendous sacrifice, especially because the
person that I interview is a single mother, but now she is with my aunt and they are currently helping each
other to get by and cover their weaknesses. The downside of working abroad is that the country that the
person left will have very little improvement while the country that you work for is developing even
further, which is one of the reasons she decided to bring her one and only family overseas with her,
because the everything in that country is highly developed when it comes to medicine, education, and
many more. The country of Canada even provides relief in the form of cash for her son, because her son
has been diagnosed with autism. Working overseas allows them to aquire higher standarts of living, and
purchase products at ease because of the salary from the labor they’ve done and allows them to have more
opportunities. She achieved her reason to stay overseas in just 10 years because of how develped of a
country Canada is. It is actualy because of this very reason that people from very poor countries are
attracted to these kinds of offers to have a chance to live a comfortable life protected by a well developed
system away from the most harm that people can experience in poor countries. It is so attractive that there
are currently 2.24 million Filipinos that are working as as OFW in 2022 and it is very difficult to blame
them because of the current state of the Philippines today.
A hashtag, introduced by the number sign, or hash symbol,
#, is a type of metadata tag used on social networks such as
Twitter and other microblogging services. It lets users apply
dynamic, user-generated tagging that helps other users
easily find messages with a specific theme or content .
In this activity, summarize what you have learned
in this chapter using hashtag. Be creative as well as unique in doing the activity. Write your answer
inside the box.
The difficulties of life that people that had come before us made various efforts to allow us
to live a somewhat easier but it is still flawed like all systems created by human ingenuity.
Now we are living a life of less suffering because of the abundance of resources that are
currently circulating thanks to #Globalization
