BACKGROUND: Custodian at a former school in Saint

Martinville (Shepherd of Men), funded under the Tuttle
Ministries school voucher program. He worked there from
2003 to 2010, until that school closed when the voucher
program ended. Prior to that he worked at another school in
Eunice from 1985-1992 (Righteous Path), part of the
Wellspring Program, until it closed with the Program’s end.
He still lives in Saint Martinville with his two sons.
Officially, he’s retired. Unofficially, he oversees the
surveillance of Rustin Cohle and is meant to capture him.

Effects are felt within seconds and last from 2 to 4 hours,

with a gradually increasing sense of displacement,
heightened alertness, and distorted sense of time.
At first, the drug gives the user a glimpse of their own
future. They see a composite image of their future selves.
They are broken, failed people, driven to destruction by
their own weaknesses and obsessions. They may be
physically wounded, or buried under their traumas, or
alienated from their bonds.
REIDER AND COHLE: As the effect deepens, the
user is transported to a vision of an opulent ballroom,
surrounded by masked attendants. They see two people that
are not masked; Rustin Cohle and Kelly Reider. Rustin
Cohle can be interacted with, but will likely not think the
other is real unless he encounters them in waking reality.
Kelly Reider is huddled on the dance floor and sobbing; it is
impossible to tell if these are tears of sorrow or joy. She
barely interacts.
The user feels a sense of euphoria and comfort, as
though they belong in this place. They come from it, and to
it they will always return. They get the sense they are
waiting for something, but cannot describe what. In the
distance they hear someone ask a yellow robed guest to
remove his mask, before the vision ends.
DELAYED EFFECT: After one use of the drug, the
spiral sign appears wherever Hastur has erupted, sober or
not. If the user ever looks at Rustin Cohle in person, they
periodically see hints of the King in Yellow bleeding into
their normal perception. His face may appear shiny like a
pallid mask, or it may be tattered like scar tissue.
SUBSEQUENT USES: Extended use reveals greater
insight into their future, Carcosa, and deeper understanding
of Hastur, the King, Yhtill, the masquerade ball, and a
general feeling of homesickness when not under the
influence. They also begin to perceive the King in Yellow as
a friend that comes to save them.

that time held no meaning for him, that his kingdom is at hand,

again issued to the crowd as the watch captain chopped his
head off during his public execution.
Soon after these events, the watch captain claimed that he
was haunted by the spirit of the man. He later went missing,
and was not seen again.
