GENERAL RULES
Always refer to the specific product description and the manufacturer's instructions.
Observe the following warnings.
0.1 Storage and Transportation
The environmental conditions listed in the catalog or dictated by the applicable IEC standards must always be observed
0.2 Installation
Installation must be performed in accordance with the operating conditions established by the manufacturer and the appli-
cable IEC standards.
0.3 Electrical Connections
These must be carried out strictly according to the wiring diagrams supplied with the product, its features and in compli-
ance with applicable regulations, paying particular attention to operator safety.
0.4 Input Quantities and Auxiliary Power
Carefully check that the input value and the power supply voltage is correct and within the permissible variation limits.
0.5 Output Loads
These must be compatible with the performance declared by the manufacturer
0.6 Grounding
Carefully check efficiency where appropriate.
0.7 Setting and Calibration
Carefully check the proper setting of various functions according to the configuration of the protected system, the safety
provisions and any co-ordination with other devices.
0.8 Safety Devices
Carefully check that all protections are correctly mounted, apply suitable seals where required and periodically check their
integrity.
0.9 Handling
Although all the best protection techniques have been used in designing the electronic circuits of the relays, the electronic
components and semiconductors mounted on the modules could be seriously damaged by electrostatic discharge that
may occur during any handling. The damage may not be immediately visible, but the reliability and durability of the product
might be reduced as a result thereof. The electronic circuits are completely safe against electrostatic discharge when they
are housed in their casing. Swapping the modules without due caution automatically exposes them to risk of damage.
0.10 Maintenance and Use
Refer to the manufacturer's instructions; maintenance should be carried out by qualified personnel and in strict accor-
dance with safety regulations.
0.11 Faults and Repairs
Internal calibrations and components should not be altered or replaced.
For repairs, contact the manufacturer or its authorized dealer.
Failure to follow the rules and instructions above releases the manufacturer from any liability.

CAP. 1 GENERAL FEATURES
The "RPR-2" relay receives the measurement by optical fiber
through the "TIM" transducer which allows the precise mea-
surement of current and voltage. The operation of the tripping
thresholds can be programmed.
RPR-2 relay
The relay is provided with:
— 2 programmable output relays
— 1 diagnostic relay normally energized
— 2 analog output 0…20 mA or 4...20 mA
— 1 RS 485 with MODBUS protocol

— Inverse current
— Maximum or minimum voltage
The connections must be made in accordance to the connection diagrams shown on the side of the casing. Check that the
input values are the same as reported on the wiring diagram and on the test certificate.

CAP. 2 RELAY MANAGEMENT
The local programming takes place by means of the keys on
the front of the device or using a laptop connected to the
RS485 serial port on the back of the relay. In normal operation,
the display 2 the operator interface, display respectively the 1 2
values of voltage and current. .
Press Prog (1) to access the programming. Pressing further the key Prog in any programming menu you are, you leave
the programming mode and return to the display.
The + (2) and - (3)keys allow you to move within the different stages of programming or increment and decrement the val-
ue you want to set.

3.1 Main communication port of the base
This port is accessible from the two terminals.
It is used to connect up to 31 devices on a RS485 serial bus line with Modbus RTU to the central supervisory system
(SCADA, DCS etc.).
The serial bus must be made with a shielded and twisted pair connecting the different units in parallel (Multi Drop). The
configuration is selectable:
ModbusAddress 1....255
Baud Rate 9600 bps
Start bit 1
Data bit 8
Parity None
Stop 1
6
CAP. 4 MAINTENANCE
There is no expected maintenance. In case of malfunction, call customer service or an authorized dealer with the machine
serial number shown on the special label on the outside of the relay.
7
CAP. 5 INDUSTRIAL FREQUENCY INSULATION TEST
All relays are tested individually in accordance with insulation standard IEC60255-5 at 2 kV, 50 Hz 1min.
The repetition of this test is not recommended as it involves unnecessarily dielectrics. In any case, serial port and digital
input circuits that are connected permanently to ground during testing are excluded from such tests. When the devices are
mounted in a cabinet, they must be subject to insulation testing. Please note that any discharges from other parts of the
control panel may severely damage relays or cause damage to electronic components that may not be immediately obvi-
ous.

DEVICE DISPOSAL
When COET devices reache the end of their life they must be disposed of in compliance to the laws in force related to
waste and respect of the environment.
COET systems are realized using various types of materials which when disposed of have to be separated and disposed
using the diversified disposal process.
