Installation of FM-200 Devices – Bell, Horn strobe, Manual
Pull Station and Abort Station, Smoke Detector and Control
Heads
Ensure that all necessary permits are approved by Shell
before to proceed on the installation including approved
drawings and locations.
Coordinate to building admin the deactivations of their
existing Gas Suppression System before start of work to
avoid accidentally discharge.
Once the existing Gas Fire Suppression System disable
and isolated you can start on the installation of devices.
Make sure that before you install the audible devices,
MPS and Abort Station, layout and roughing ins was
done. And all provision of hardwire for ceiling mounted
audible devices was already penetrated on the wall going
on the same location of the existing audible devices.
Before you install the audible and other devices, make
sure that the device already input its address and ready
for programming.
Use proper ladder approved by Shell - EHS.
Install the Bell and Horn strobe devices at the ceiling, on
the same location of the existing Fire Suppression system
audible devices as per agreed location with
Cushman/Shell. While waiting to finish the whole System,
audible devices for FM-200 will hang it temporarily on the
ceiling near the existing audible devices of Fire
Suppression System. The main objective of this is to
maintain the room fire protection while were doing the
upgrade.
Terminate the device and secure its terminals properly,
so the device can withstand its weight while on its
hanging position or provision. At the same time install its
module on the provisional boxes.
Cover the audible devices to protect it from dust, paint
and other possible matter that can damage our devices.
Install and mount (exposed type of installation) the
Manual Pull station and Abort station on the sidewall of
the door entrance of the room.
Make sure that the address of the device was already
programed, including its modules.
Terminate and secured the devices by covering it with
plastic or box to protect it from dust and other unwanted
particle while the construction still ongoing.
After the installation of devices outside the room, install
the Smoke Detectors and Electric Control Heads.

Ensure that the smoke detector already have address
and programmed.
Terminate the smoke detectors on their provisional boxes
and wires on the ceiling.
Install and terminate Electric control Head and hang it
temporarily on the cylinder frame while waiting for the
instruction to engage it and final handover.
Clean the area and double check all leveling of the wall
mounted (exposed installation) devices.
Make sure all devices are properly installed at the same
time they have an addressed, and secured before leaving
the area.
Then proceed on the next set of rooms.
J. SYSTEM CONFIGURATION
1.2 Activation of the extinguishing system shall be via crossed-zoned or
counting-zoned smoke detection
1.3 Detection system layout shall be in accordance with NFPA72 and it
shall require the activation of at least one detector from each of the two
crossed-zoned detector groupings to trigger the automatic release of
the extinguishing system.
K. PRE-COMMISSIONING CHECKLIST (VISUAL INSPECTION)
1. Check the approved plans & drawings and make sure that all FM-200
devices are installed accordingly.
2. Check if all FM-200 devices are properly installed and unobstructed.

status.
4. Check power supply is present at the unit at the correct voltage. Verify
circuit has been tested and approved by the electrical contractor.
5. Check if the Smoke/Heat detector has label indicating the devices
address.
6. Check the entire FM-200 mechanical piping layout & electrical conduit,
make sure that it is properly installed and has proper conduit support.
7. Make sure that the FM-200 pipes & conduits are properly marked w/
red paint & tape for proper pipes & conduit identification.
8. Check the smoke detector head covers are removed from the detector
head.
