Our topic today is all about Respiratory
System. We will discuss its parts and its
function. You are expected to name and
identify the different parts of respiratory
system. You will be able to explain the

parts and function of Human Respiratory

Our body needs an oxygen in order us to
live. During inhalation, your body take
oxygen which is used in many body process.
Our respiratory system has a body
mechanism performed. It is called breathing.
Breathing is the process of moving air into
and out of the lungs, which are the organs in
which gas exchange takes place between the
atmosphere and the body. Breathing is also
called ventilation, and it is one of two parts
of the life-sustaining process of respiration,
the other part being gas exchange.
The Respiratory System has a upper tract
that consist of nose, nasal cavity, and
pharynx. In the lower tract we have larynx,
trachea, bronchial tubes and lungs.
Let’s start with the nose.
What can you say about the nose?
Nose is the outer part of the
respiratory system. It is mostly
made up of cartilage, which make
the nose flexible and strong.
The nose also has a two opening called
nostril, which lead to the nasal cavity. You
normally breath through the nose and not
through the mouth.
Next is the pharynx. It is connected to both
of the nose and mouth. And acts as a
passageway. This is why you can still breathe
even if your nose is blocked due to cold.
Larynx. Who can describe the larynx? Larynx is also known as the voice

Next is the Trachea.
It’s a wind pipe it the bottom of the Larynx.
Its lined with mucus that help prevent dust
particles and other things form entering to
the lungs.
The Trachea divides into two branches each
entering a lungs. These tubes are called
bronchial tubes and they branch into even
smaller tubes called bronchioles. At the end
of each bronchiole is a bunch of tiny air sacs
called alveoli. The exchange of oxygen and
carbon dioxide occurs in the alveoli.
