Inventions and Their Impact on Society

The document provides information about an activity in a course on inventions. It includes a table listing important inventions, the reasons for their creation, their advantages and disadvantages, and their inventors. Students are asked to analyze why these inventions are important for human existence and apply the scientific method to solve a problem of a laptop not turning on. The summary should be 3 sentences or less: The document discusses an activity that asks students to list important inventions, their reasons and impacts, and apply the scientific method to solve a technical problem. Name: Roland T. Abela II

Instructor: Sir Bernie C. Palacio, LPT

the advantage, disadvantage and inventor.

Analysis: Why are these inventions important to the human existence?

- New tools, devices, procedures, and medications, among other inventions, have greatly
benefited society. New methods to construct, move, communicate, heal, study, and play
are made possible by inventions, which also enable people throughout the world live
longer, healthier, and more productive lives. Policymakers can better grasp the
advantages of encouraging the development of inventions and resolving injustices that
stifle the development of female and minority innovators by having a clear understanding
of and articulating the value of creation.

Enrichment: Kindly see the video and read the article about “The question concerning
technology” by Martin Heidegger.

Activity: Think of a problem in our daily life where you can apply the scientific method.
You may opt to apply in actual scenarios in your field of specialization.

Problem: Your laptop won’t turn on.

Observation: The observation you make from this problem is that your laptop won’t turn
on.

Asking a Question: Why is my laptop not turning on?

Forming a Hypothesis: The hypothesis should be a potential explanation or answer to
the question. It should also be testable in some way and doesn’t necessarily have to be
right. So, in this case, let’s say our hypothesis is that the laptop is low on battery.

Prediction: Based on our hypothesis that the laptop is low on battery, you predict that if
you charge the laptop, your laptop will work.

Testing the Prediction: Testing involves experimenting to see if your prediction is right.
In this case, you charge the laptop.

If that works and the charger charges your laptop, then your hypothesis may be correct or
“supported.” If the laptop doesn’t work, then your hypothesis may be wrong or “not
supported.”

Iteration: Here, you reflect on your results and decide on your next step.

If the test results supported your hypothesis, your laptop worked, you may decide to do
further tests to confirm it or revise it.

If the test results did not support your hypothesis, your charger failed to charge, you can
form a new hypothesis.
