Study
Purpose of the Study:

By exploring the experiences of women entrepreneurs in a male-dominated industry, this study will
contribute to our understanding of the gendered nature of entrepreneurship and the challenges faced
by women in this field. This knowledge can be used to inform policies and practices that support the
advancement of women entrepreneurs in male-dominated industries.

through interviews. The researchers will use purposive sampling to select participants who are likely to
provide rich and diverse data that can help to answer the research questions. Purposive sampling involves
selecting participants based on specific criteria, such as their experience, role, or expertise in the industry.

The study's findings can impact the local community in Tarlac by raising awareness about the unique challenges faced by women entrepreneurs and encouraging local businesses and authorities to implement policies that foster an equitable environment for all entrepreneurs. By documenting successful strategies employed by women in male-dominated industries, the community can gain insights into effective practices that bridge gender gaps, potentially inspiring more women to enter and succeed in entrepreneurial roles .

Purposive sampling is crucial in this research as it ensures the selection of participants who have the relevant experience and insights necessary to address the study's objectives. By carefully choosing women entrepreneurs based on specific criteria such as experience, role, or expertise, the researchers can gather rich, diverse data that will help elucidate the experiences and challenges these women face in male-dominated industries .

Understanding the experiences of women entrepreneurs is significant for policy-making and practice as it highlights the specific barriers and opportunities women face in male-dominated industries. This knowledge can inform the development of targeted policies and practices that support gender equality by addressing barriers such as access to finance, mentorship, and networking opportunities. It can also foster inclusive business environments and encourage more women to pursue entrepreneurial endeavors, leading to broader socio-economic development .

According to the study, potential strategies that women entrepreneurs might employ include building robust support networks, seeking out mentors and allies within the industry, continuously updating their skills and knowledge to stay competitive, and advocating for themselves to challenge gender biases. They may also adopt flexible business practices to better balance personal and professional responsibilities, thereby creating a more sustainable and favorable environment for success .

A qualitative approach is important because it allows the researchers to capture the depth and complexity of the participants' personal experiences, challenges, and coping strategies. This method is particularly suited to exploring nuanced social phenomena such as gender dynamics in entrepreneurship, where individual stories and perspectives provide valuable context and understanding, beyond what quantitative data alone could offer .

A semi-structured interview format enhances the qualitative research process by providing a balance between guided exploration and open-ended responses. This format allows the researchers to maintain focus on key research questions while also giving participants the flexibility to express their experiences and insights in their own words. This approach can lead to the discovery of unexpected themes and deeper understanding of the women's perspectives and strategies in navigating male-dominated industries .

The proposed contribution of the study to existing knowledge is its in-depth examination of the gender dynamics in entrepreneurship within male-dominated industries. By focusing on the lived experiences of women entrepreneurs in Tarlac, the study aims to shed light on the specific challenges and successes these women encounter, thus enriching the discourse on gender equality in entrepreneurial environments. This contribution is intended to inform more inclusive business practices and support structures .

The context of Tarlac influences the factors being studied by providing a specific cultural and economic backdrop in which these women entrepreneurs operate. Local societal norms and economic conditions may dictate the level of support or opposition experienced by women in entrepreneurship. Additionally, local policies and the prevalence of certain industries can create particular challenges and opportunities for women striving for entrepreneurial success in the male-dominated sectors present in Tarlac .

The main challenges faced by women entrepreneurs in male-dominated industries, as identified in the study from Tarlac, include gender bias and stereotypes, lack of access to funding and resources, and balancing work and family responsibilities. These challenges are often compounded by the limited support networks available to women in these fields, as the industries are typically not designed with women in mind, leading to systemic barriers that they must overcome .

The study conducted by Capas National High School aims to fill the research gap by exploring the personal experiences of women entrepreneurs in male-dominated industries through qualitative data collection. By conducting in-depth interviews and/or focus group discussions, the research seeks to gather comprehensive insights directly from the participants, allowing for a better understanding of the gendered nature of entrepreneurship and the unique challenges these women face .
