Most org anization s ar e group ed and ma nag ed b y sp ecialty. For th is upgr ade in p ar ticu lar, it is imp o r tan t th at everyon e invo lved know no t on ly their ind iv idu al role bu t also how th eir con tr ibu tion aff ects th e proj ect as a who le. Wh ether the proj ect ma n a ger has a techn ical or fun c tion al b ackground , it is essen tial that the team b e ab le to co mmu n icate and a d d r e ss t h e k e y e l e me n ts t o su cce ed i n a Ch an g e M an ag e me n t p r o j e c t . Why Upgrade

Types of Upgrades
Th ere are mu ltip le ways to bring Oracle App lication s to a current release state. In o rder to avo id the discu ssion of r e- imp leme n tation v s. upgr ade (a top ic gen erally wor th y of its o wn W hite Pap er) w e w ill fo cus str ictly on upgr ades and categor iz e the op tions as two , a T e chn ic a l Upgr ade and a Fu ll F ea tur e-dr iv en Upgr ade . Techn ical upgr ades are th e pr evalen t me thod u sed fo r min or , do t-r e lease upgr ades. A dotr e lease upgrade d e scr ibes an in ter-v ersion release ( i.e. 11.5.8 to 11.5.9) th at pr imar ily entails techn ical produ ct enh an cemen ts and bug fixes. Typ ically there are limited fun c tionality ov erhau ls invo lv ed in do t r e le as e enhan c eme n ts and the focu s is on th e te ch stack imp rov ements. As su ch, th is effort is u sually led b y th e DBA and technical team with limited invo lv emen t fro m th e fun c tional resour ces and u ser -co mmu n ity.
