DRIVER POLICY

1. Policy Statement

To ensure that all drivers operating on behalf of the business are following the set road regulations. Non-
compliance to this policy leads to disciplinary action by the company.

2. Applicability

All Drivers Employed by the Company

3. Objectives

The principal objectives of the Drivers’ Policy are to promote driver discipline, protect the reputation of the
Company, promote safety among our drivers and other road users and ensure that we are the premier Company
in the industry.

Specifically, the aims of code of conduct are:

• to define accepted/acceptable road behaviour;

• to promote high standards of road safety;

• to act as a mark of maturity on the roads

• to act as Company’s ambassadors at Client’s premises

4. Driver safety and good behaviour rules

• Cell phone use while driving should be kept to a minimum.

• No driver shall operate a company vehicle when his/her ability to do so safely has been impaired by
illness, fatigue, injury, or prescription medication.

• No Driver shall drive under the influence of Alcohol.

• Drivers are responsible for the security of company vehicles assigned to them and shall not leave the
Trucks unattended except when parked in a safe and secure yard for loading and offloading.

• Drivers shall not drive between the hours of 12midnight to 4 am and have to find a safe place to rest
before midnight

• No unauthorized personnel are allowed to ride in company vehicles.

• Drivers must honor posted speed limits and follow the Traffic rules at all times

• Be alert of other vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists when driving.

• Follow the protocols at the Company’s clients premises and always remain respectful and decent in
behaviour

• Regular checking of the following should be carried out:

a) engine oil
b) brake fluid

c) battery levels

d) windscreen washers

e) radiator level

f) tyre pressures and tread condition

g) lights, including indicators

5. Accident Procedures

• Call for medical aid if necessary.

• Inform the police.

• Record names and addresses of driver, witnesses, and occupants of the other vehicles.

• Take the insurance details of 3rd party and also pictures if possible

• Immediately report the accident to the office.

1. Basic Behaviour that could result to disciplinary action

• Driving at excessive speeds

• Abusing other road users

• Failure to report road incidents/ accidents

• Being found guilty of a serious road offence

• Consuming or being under the influence of alcohol or any other drugs whilst on duty. Any prescribed
medicine like to affect normal functioning should be reported to the head of department

• Driving while in possession of alcohol or drugs

• Driving with a suspended or revoked driver’s license

• Vehicular manslaughter

• Vehicular homicide

• Vehicular assault

• Reckless driving

• Hit and Run

• Eluding a police officer

• Refusal to submit to a blood, urine, or breathalyzer test


• More than two at-fault accidents, or four moving violations

TIMES OF OPERATION

This Transport Code of Conduct is applicable 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
