Introduction

On March 14, 2023, I visited the Raja Biscuit Factory in Sodepur, Kolkata to gain
insights into the manufacturing process of biscuits. The purpose of the visit was
to understand the production line, quality control measures, and the overall
management of the factory.

Company Profile
Raja Biscuit Factory is a well-known biscuit manufacturing company located in
Sodepur, Kolkata. The company was established in 1965 and has since been producing
biscuits in various flavours and varieties. The factory is equipped with the latest
technology and employs over 200 people.

Observation
Upon entering the factory, we were greeted by the production manager who gave us an
overview of the factory. We were then taken on a tour of the factory floor where we
observed the entire biscuit-making process, starting from the mixing of ingredients
to packaging. The production floor was clean and well-maintained, with proper
safety measures in place.

The mixing and dough preparation process was done using modern machinery, which
helped to increase the speed and efficiency of the process. The dough was then sent
to the cutting machine, which shaped it into various biscuit shapes and sizes. The
cut biscuits were then transferred to the baking unit, where they were baked at
high temperatures.

Quality Control Measures


Quality control is an essential aspect of biscuit manufacturing, and Raja Biscuit
Factory had put in place several measures to ensure the quality of their products.
The quality control team continuously monitored the production process to ensure
that the biscuits met the required standards. The biscuits were also tested for
their taste, texture, and overall quality at various stages of the production line.

Interview
We had the opportunity to interview the production manager, who shared his insights
on the biscuit manufacturing industry. He talked about the challenges faced by the
industry, such as fluctuating prices of raw materials and competition from other
brands. He also shared the company's plans to expand their production line and
introduce new flavours to their product range.

Analysis
Based on our observations and interview, we concluded that Raja Biscuit Factory is
a well-managed company with a strong focus on quality control. The use of modern
technology and efficient production processes helps the company to produce high-
quality biscuits. However, the industry's highly competitive nature poses a
challenge to the company, which they plan to overcome through product innovation
and expanding their production capacity.

Conclusion
The visit to the Raja Biscuit Factory was an informative and enlightening
experience. The visit provided us with an opportunity to gain insights into the
manufacturing process of biscuits, quality control measures, and the challenges
faced by the industry. Overall, the visit was a valuable learning experience, and
we appreciate the hospitality extended by the management and staff of Raja Biscuit
Factory.
