Ancient Sumer and Egyptian Civilizations

Ancient Sumer was one of the first complex civilizations, emerging around 3300 BC in the fertile region of Mesopotamia between the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers. Sumer was composed of at least 12 independent city-states, each with their own government and social hierarchy. Religion played a major role in Sumerian society, and they developed one of the earliest forms of writing called cuneiform. Over time, other powerful empires like Babylon, Assyria, and Persia rose to dominate Mesopotamia, continuing technological and cultural development in the region.
