Respiratory Module

A short guidance by Study Aid Project (KMDC)


Congratulations, you are done with the most difficult module of 1st year MBBS. Now, coming to Respo
module, like always, we will be dividing subjects as MAJORS and MINORS.

MAJORs include:

Physiology, Anatomy

MINORs include:

Embryology, Histology and Biochemistry

PHYSIOLOGY

Its quite easy yet conceptual , syllabus icludes CHP 38,39,40,41,42,43,44,45 Of GUYTON.

CHP 44 and 45 are less important. I would suggest to just give them a read..

Make some good concepts. Guyton alone is sufficient. You can watch ninja nerd and selfless medicos
videos if you want.

You can cover physio from BRS+Firdous along with slides if you have less time (bcz Gyton kaafi lengthy
hai)

ANATOMY

Anatomy is not that lengthy but yes, its quite difficult. You have to do surface anatomy as well.

Topics include THORACIC WALL and THORACIC CAVITY there are few topics that belong to CVS and
mediastinum. Just leave them

Pay special attention to surface anatomy , relations , clinicals, pleura etc

You can use whatever book you want..

WHOLE PHYSIO AND ANATOMY would take 12 days at max.

EMBRYOLOGY

You have two chps

1- body cavities

2- respiratory system
You can use KLM as well as Langman. Do clinicals sahi se.

It would take 3 days At max.

HISTOLOGY

You only have one chapter from laiq hussain CHP 17 ( respiratory system).

Its quite easy, yet very important .

It would not take more than 2 days..

BIOCHEMISTRY

You have the following topics:

- Globular proteins (chp 3 lippincott)

- Glycolysis (chp 8 lippincott)

- TCA cylcle (chp 9 lippincott)

- Electron transport chain (chp 6 lippincott)

- Water and electrolytes (do from faiq chp 16)

- ph buffers (do from faiq chp 2)

- Acid base balance (do from faiq chp 2 and see ninja nerd videos)

- Phospholipid synthesis (chp 17 lippincott)

Acid base balance is very imp, make good concepts

Also do biochemistry from slides..

Whole biochem would take 7 days at max.
