DAILY LESSON LOG Teaching Dates and
Time
I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standards The learners demonstrate understanding of how the skeletal system
works
B. Performance Standards The learners should be able to make a chart showing healthful habits
that promote proper functioning of the skeletal system S6LT-IIc-d-1
C. Most Essential Learning Knowledge:
Competencies Explain how the organs of skeletal system work together
Skill:
Perform the given tasks that will show how to protect the skeletal
system
Attitude:
Show awareness and appreciate the values of tasks that will
protect the Skeletal system
II. CONTENT/TOPIC .Describing how the skeletal system works
II. LEARNING RESOURCES
A. References
1. Teacher’s Guide pages Padpad, Evelyn C. The New Science Links REX 2015 pp 106-111
2. Learner’s Materials pages Smart TV, laptop, manila papers, pentel pen, popsicle sticks, glue gun,
eggs

IV. PROCEDURES
A. Reviewing previous lesson or presenting
the new lesson A. ELICIT
Review
What are the mixtures you encountered yesterday and today?
What classification of mixtures are they?
Can you separate these mixtures?
What method will you use?
B. Establishing a purpose for the B. ENGAGE
lesson/Motivation/Motive Questions Motivation
Present a video clip of a bike accident
Ask: a. What causes the bike accident?
b. What happened to the riders?
c. What is the cause of the driver’s death?
d. What might be the reason the passenger survived the
accident?
C. Presenting examples/instances of the new Unlocking of Word Difficulty
lesson. Create situation where pupils support to keep something or somebody upright or
visualize instances of the new lesson in place
using concrete objects (direct teaching) appendage a body part or organ that projects from the
main part of the body
Perform activities with the supervision of the
spongy soft, having a light open texture full of holes
teacher ( Group works/cooperative learning) or cavities
compact closely clustered or packed together
helmet head covering made hard material worn to
protect the head
accident an unplanned unfortunate event that results
damage or injury
structure an object that has been put together from many
different parts
Presentation
What organ system of the body could be responsible for the
survival and minimal damage of the passenger?
C. EXPLORE
Setting of standard for the simple Science activity.
House Rules/Standards/Guidelines:
(Follow the mnemonic/memory device.)
G- Give thoughtful feedback
R- Respect others & their thoughts
O- On task all the time
U- Use soft voices
P- Participate actively
S- Stay with your group
Illustrate the model of the skeletal system
1. Group the pupils into 4 groups.
2. Distribute manila paper and pentel pen for each group
3. Let each group let the smallest member to lie in the manila
paper and trace him or her to come up with a drawing of a
human being
4. List down all the bones you can remember outside the drawing
5. Draw every bone you can identify and place it in the proper location
you know
D. Discussing new concepts and practicing D. EXPLAIN
new skills #1 Reporting Outputs
1. Let each group publish their outputs on the board
2. Have them choose their reporter to report the output
3. Guide the pupils in presenting their outputs and give additional
inputs to them for clarifications
Discussion
Functions of the Skeletal System
- It gives the body much-needed support
- It protects the internal organs in the body
- It makes body movement possible through the muscles attached
to them
- It stores important minerals like calcium
- It is where million of blood cells are produced
Structure of the Skeletal System
Two divisions of the skeletal system
Axial Skeleton
skull, vertebral column, ribs and sternum
Appendicular Skeleton
bones of the shoulder, arms, hands, hip, legs and feet
E. Discussing new concepts and practicing E. ELABORATE
new skills #2 Based on the explanation of the teacher, the students will complete
their skeletal system model. Take their outputs and refine their model.
Teacher presents the interactive skeletal model. ( [Link]
[Link]/learn/career-clusters/health-science/mea304/the-skeleton-
bones-joints ) Learners will identify a bone and name it. To check if the
child is correct, the learner will manipulate the mouse to click the name
of the bone and the correct bone placement will be highlighted. Then
the learners will state the important function of the selected bone.
F. Developing mastery (leads to Formative Answering the online quiz via google form
Assessment 3) Link will be sent to the FB GC.
G. Finding practical applications of concepts Application
and skills in daily living Group Activity: Use the popsicle sticks and glue guns to create a
protective structure for the eggs that will be provided for each group.
The egg represents internal organ, the popsicle sticks represent the
skeletal, now how will you protect the skeletal system? You may
create a protective barrier for the skeletal model you constructed
Values Integration
In real life situations, how will you protect the system of your body
that protects your internal organs?
H. Making generalizations and abstractions Generalization
about the lesson - What are the main functions of the skeletal system?
- What are the two divisions of skeletal system
- Identify the bone under each divisions
Supply the missing words to complete the key concepts
The skeletal system consists of the bones of the body. It gives
the body shape and support. Different types of bones have different
functions. Some of the bones enable the body to move and others
protect internal organs.
I. Evaluating learning F. EVALUATE
Identify at least 3 functions of the skeletal system and describe briefly
the importance in your everyday class
J. Additional activities for application or G. EXTEND
remediation Enumerate ways on how you can protect your Skeletal system
perform it. Take a video of your act and send it to the teacher’s FB
messenger
