Reproductive System

Thank you for sharing. Group 2, please present your output. Group 2: Here is our output ma'am. We labeled the different parts of the female reproductive system. 1. Uterus - This is a hollow, pear-shaped organ where a fetus develops. It has three layers: endometrium, myometrium, and perimetrium. 2. Ovaries - These are two small glands located on either side of the uterus. They produce eggs and female sex hormones like estrogen and progesterone. 3. Fallopian tubes - These are two narrow tubes extending from each side of the uterus to the ovaries. Fertilization usually occurs in the fallopian tubes

A Detailed Lesson Plan in Science 10

School Kalilangan National High School Grade Level 10

Teacher Novey Maderse Constantino Learning Area Science
Teaching Date February 13-17, 2023 Quarter Third
and Time MTWThF 12:00-5:00 PM

I. Content Standard: The learners demonstrate an understanding of organisms as having feedback

mechanisms, which are coordinated by the nervous and endocrine systems.
II. Performance Standards: The learners should be able to create their own 3D model of DNA
structure.
III. Learning Competency and Code: Explain the role of hormones involved in the female and male
reproductive systems. (S10LT– IIIb-34)
IV. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the learners are expected to:
1. Identify the different parts of male and female reproductive systems. (Cognitive)
2. Choose one of the feedback mechanisms involved in regulating processes in the female
reproductive system. (Affective)
3. Explain the roles of hormones in the male and female reproductive systems.
(Psychomotor)
V. Content
1. Subject Matter: Hormones in Human Reproduction
2. Process Skills: Communication skills, Science skills, Crafting skills, Creativity
3. Learning Areas Integrated:
 English: Learners will be using English as a medium of communication in the
entire duration of the class.
 MAPEH: Learners will be talking about and learning about health related to
reproductive and sexually transmitted diseases,
4. Teaching Strategies: Discussion, Inquiry-Based strategy, Activity-Based Approach,
Cooperative Learning strategy
5. Science Concept/s:
For most living creatures, reproduction is basically a normal process
controlled by hormones. Even though human reproduction is also controlled
by hormones, the process is rather more complicated. The system involved in
sexual reproduction is called the reproductive system. There is a striking
difference between the male and female reproductive systems, although they
also share a number of similarities. For example, the reproductive organs of
the male and female are developed from the same embryological structures
and some hormones are commonly found in both male and female in varying
quantities and produce different responses.

What does the video all about? The video is all about the role of
hormones in the male and female
reproductive system.

Very good. Now I will give

group 3 the time present their

Testosterone, the hormone

responsible for the secondary
sexual characteristics that
develop in the male during
adolescence, stimulates
spermatogenesis. These
secondary sex characteristics
include a deepening of the voice,
the growth of facial, axillary,
and pubic hair, and the
beginnings of the sex drive.

Very good Group 3. In addition,

a negative feedback system
occurs in the male with rising
levels of testosterone acting on
the hypothalamus and anterior
pituitary to inhibit the release of
GnRH, FSH, and LH. The Sertoli
cells produce the
hormone inhibin, which is
released into the blood when the
sperm count is too high. This
inhibits the release of GnRH and
FSH, which will cause
spermatogenesis to slow down. If
the sperm count reaches 20
million/ml, the Sertoli cells cease The control of reproduction in
the release of inhibin, and the females is more complex. As
sperm count increases. with the male, the anterior
pituitary hormones cause the
Next let’s have the group 4. release of the hormones FSH and
LH. In addition, estrogens and
progesterone are released from
the developing
follicles. Estrogen is the
reproductive hormone in females
that assists in endometrial
regrowth, ovulation, and calcium
absorption; it is also responsible
for the secondary sexual
characteristics of females. These
include breast development,
flaring of the hips, and a shorter
period necessary for bone
maturation. Progesterone assists
in endometrial re-growth and
inhibition of FSH and LH
release.
Excellent group 4. In females,
FSH stimulates development of
egg cells, called ova, which
develop in structures called
follicles. Follicle cells produce
the hormone inhibin, which
inhibits FSH production. LH also
plays a role in the development
of ova, induction of ovulation,
and stimulation of estradiol and
progesterone production by the
ovaries. Estradiol and
progesterone are steroid
hormones that prepare the body
for pregnancy. Estradiol
produces secondary sex
characteristics in females, while
both estradiol and progesterone
regulate the menstrual cycle.
E. Elaborate: Learners apply the information learned in the Explain. The teacher will give inputs to deepen
the understanding of the learners. (Hands-On-Minds-On Strategy, Collaborative Learning Approach,
Reporting) 15 mins

reproductive system
(Fertilization and menstruation).
From the video I will show to
you later, discuss briefly the
process of each mechanism.

Everybody watch the video. (The students are watching the

video).
What is fertilization? In humans, female and male
reproductive systems work
together to reproduce. There are
two kinds of sex cells — sperm
and eggs. When a sperm meets
an egg, it can fertilize it and
create a zygote. This zygote
eventually becomes a fetus. Both
a sperm and an egg are needed
for human reproduction.
When an egg undergoes
fertilization
 If sperm fertilizes an egg,
the process of
reproduction continues.
The fertilized egg travels
down the fallopian tube
to the uterus, where it
attaches to the uterine
wall.
 A specialized tissue
called the placenta forms
between the uterus and
the developing baby. The
placenta transfers oxygen
and nutrients from the
mother to her baby.
 During the first 3 months
of pregnancy (first
trimester), the baby forms
the major organs.
 During the remainder of
the pregnancy, these
organs mature, and the
baby grows rapidly.

F. Evaluate: Evaluating learning. (Pen and paper test) 10 mins

For your evaluation, I want you *Pen Activity 6:
to get a 1/8 lengthwise and *Paper “Perfect
answer the multiple choices quiz. *Questionnaire KoNa!”
Write the letter of your answer. I
will be giving you 5 minutes to
answer. (Students are answering the post-
test)
G. Extend: Additional activities for application or remediation.

up in such a way that reproduction notebook
is possible but sometimes humans
do not have the ability to reproduce.
Science has advanced technologies
tremendously for the past few
decades that artificial reproduction
is an option. With this issue, you
we’re going to research and define
the 4 artificial reproductive
technologies. And after gathering
information, reflect on the following
questions. Choose only question to
answer and write your answers in
your activity notebook.

Any questions about activity? None ma’am.

Guide questions:
1. What are the ethical implications
of these technologies?
2. Should humans be allowed the
ability to artificially reproduce?
What is your opinion on this and
why?
3. Should these technologies not
exist, what would be the impact on
others should one person not be able
to reproduce.

VII. Remarks

VIII. Reflection
a. No. of learners achieve 80% in the evaluation.
b. No. of learners who require additional activities
for remediation.

c. Did the remedial lesson work?

d. No. of learners who have caught up with the

lesson.
e. No. of learners who continue to require
remediation.
f. Which of my teaching strategies worked well?
Why did these works?
g. What difficulties did I encounter which my
principal or supervisor help me solve?
h. What innovation or localized materials did I
used/discover which I wish to share with each other?
