SYNAPSE STRENGTHENERS

ANSWER Q1 A. The cephalocaudal and proximodistal pattern.

B. Yes, this practice have something to do with proximodistal patterns of development, because according
to the explanation of proximodistal pattern of development is where growth start at the center of the body
and moves towards the extremities. An example of such pattern is the pencils of pre-K, Kindergartners
and Grade 1 pupils are bigger than those of pupils in the higher Grade levels because proximodistal is
the early development of muscular control of the trunk and arms relative to the hands and fingers.

ANSWER Q2 Interpret the following quotations in relation to human development:

A. “Every man is in certain respects like all other men, like some other men, no other man.” (Murray,
H.A. & C. Kluckhohn)

The quotation means that every man should respect too. Because every man needs to
be and has to be respected too. Even if that man is not attractive we should respect them.
Because everyman has feelings their feelings are fragile too.

B. “Man is an unfinished project. He is always in the process of becoming.”

The quotation means that human never to be known when to be finished. A human has a
lot of mistakes and imperfections but in everyday that we wakes up we tries to adjust and polish
ourselves in every mistakes we commits, we are in the process of becoming a better person than
when we was yesterday.

trunk and the arms to the hands and fingers.

3. Differences between the traditional and life-span approaches to human development.

The differences between the traditional and life-span approaches to human development
are traditional approach emphasizes extensive change from birth to adolescent, little or no
change in adulthood, and decline in late old age. While life-span approach emphasizes
developmental change during adulthood as well as childhood.

RESEARCH CONNECTION

HELEN PEARSON: LESSONS FROM THE LONGEST STUDY ON HUMAN DEVELOPMENT

PROBLEM:

How to reduce the poverty gap so that we no longer have children born into poverty and all the
future problems that creates for those individuals and our country

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY:

They carried out huge survey of mothers and ended up recording the birth of nearly every baby
born in England, Scotland and Wales in one week that was nearly 14,000 babies

FINDINGS:
The study reveals that children born into poverty or into disadvantage are far more likely to walk a
difficult path in life. Many children in this study were born into poor families or into working-class families
that had cramped homes or other problems, and it’s clear now that those disadvantaged children have
been more likely to struggle on almost every score. They’ve been more likely to do worse at school, to
end up with worse jobs and to earn less money. Children who had a tough start in life are also more
likely to end up unhealthy as adults. They’re more likely to be overweight, to have high blood pressure,
and then decades down the line, more likely to have a failing memory, poor health and even to die earlier.

CONCLUSIONS:

The study concluded that children who were growing up in poverty were almost a year behind the
richer children on educational tests, and that was by the age of just three. Children who had engaged,
interested parents, ones who had ambition for their future, were more likely to escape from a difficult start.
It seems that parents and what they do are really, really important, especially in the first few years of life.

HOW ARE THE FINDINGS OF THIS RESEARCH USEFUL TO TEACHERS?

UNIT 2 MODULE 1-HUMAN DEVELOPMENT: MEANING, CONCEPTS, AND 6

This research useful to teacher for them to understand the student learning and for the teachers
to understand that not all student develop the same. And for the teacher to take especial consideration for
individual student.

REFLECTION

Guide Questions:

1. You are a bundle of possibilities. You are meant to develop like any other living thing or else you
will rut. Remember “Growth is an evidence of life”. If you are alive, then you must be growing and
developing. Are you on your way to development?

Yes, I am on my way to develop, nothing in this life will be easy, I learned after a struggles
and failures I whole heartedly faced it. I know I am now on my development as a better person I trust
myself and I work hard. Life gives us exactly what we give out.

I admit that I still have a lot to work on. But there is no end to grow and develop, there is
always a room for improvement. I, we need to make mistakes to learn, and we all grow and develop
in different ways. We all face challenges, but making those small steps towards better our self will be
incredibly satisfying and fulfilling our self that we are growing and developing.

2. Like you, each of your future student is also a bundle of possibilities. How should you look at
them in terms of development? Write down your reflections. There’s no wrong answer,
remember.

My student also a bundle of possibilities, as a teacher I will provides my student with

motivation to learn and enjoy the process of learning. I trait my student fair and fair. I always put
myself in their situation and I always understand them and help them throughout their learning
process. I will empathize more with them knowing their feelings, thoughts and ideas.

As a teacher I should look at them to develop and provide inspiration to my students so that
they will want to change their minds to become a better and successful person someday. I should
care for them not only about academics but also about student as a people because students
nowadays are very sensitive in their feelings.
