In use from the middle of the 1960s through the middle of the 1970s, the phrase "strategic
planning" has its roots in the 1950s. At this time, it was commonly accepted that strategic planning
was the solution to every issue (David and David, 2016). The focus of strategic management is on the
direction of companies, most frequently commercial enterprises. It covers those topics that senior
management or anybody looking for explanations for organizational success and failure should be
most concerned about (Rumelt, Schendel and Teece, 1994). While strategic management, according to
Stonehouse and Pemberton (2002), may be thought of as a collection of ideas, concepts, tools, and
strategies that help managers of companies think strategically, plan strategically, and act strategically.
As a result, the purpose of developing a strategic plan is to offer a firm a competitive edge, which may
be done by fusing elements that will give a company a distinct position in the marketplace that is
better than its rivals. To do this, companies should look at the following crucial factors to give them a
competitive advantage on the market: the goods and services they provide, the prices they charge, the
locations where they conduct business, and the values they uphold. Johnsons & et al. (2011)
summarize the process as follows: Strategic Analysis, Strategic Decision, and Strategy Execution.
Various analytical methods, including the Competitive Profile Matrix (CPM), External Factor
Evaluation (EFE), and Internal Factor Evaluation (IFE), are used to assess the company's internal
operations, the macro-environment, and its understanding of the market. To choose the best strategy
for a corporation, strategists may consult the Strategic Position and Action (SPACE) matrix. To better
comprehend and examine the Coca-Cola Company's business, which is one of the largest soft-drink
company in Vietnam with a total of nearly with roughly 2,000 workers and 1.2 million retail partners
countrywide, 3 production factory and 2 distribution center (Coca-Cola,2021) , an in-depth look at the
company has been researched in this essay. It is divided into different sections that are related to
various subjects and offer key insights for the company's success. Include the Internal Factor
Evaluation (IFE) Matrix and External Factor Evaluation (EFE) Matrix. Then, the Competitive Profile
Matrix (CPM), which compares Coca-Cola to its competitors and afterwards, the best plan of action
for Vinamilk will be decided using those outcomes and Strategic Position and Action Evaluation
(SPACE) matrix.
