This map shows the development of a town from 1967 to 2007.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features,


and make comparisons where relevant.

The map below depicts changes which have occurred in the development of a town between
1967 and 2007. The most noticeable change which has occurred over the forty-year period in
the town us the replacement of agricultural and natural areas by commercial, industrial and
residential zones.

To begin with, in 1967, a large proportion of the area had been covered in forests and market
gardens, which surrounded the old city. Forty years later, however, the forests were replaced
by infrastructure, such as new housing developments, roads, an industrial zone and an
airport. In addition, the outskirts of the old city which had previously been devoted to gardens
had shrunk dramatically and now featured new housing.

Although the old city and port had remained roughly the same in terms of size, further
developments in 2007 included a band of unplanned housing and commercial properties
which had sprung up in the two decade between 1980 and 2000.

Thus, it is clear to see that, over the forty years, housing, commerce and industry have
developed prodigiously in the town at the expense of agriculture and natural, wooded areas.
